  • Patent number: 11918302
Abstract: An interactive control unit is disclosed. The interactive control unit includes an interactive touchscreen display, an interface configured to couple the control unit to a surgical hub, a processor, and a memory coupled to the processor. The memory stores instructions executable by the processor to receive input commands from the interactive touchscreen display located inside a sterile field and transmit the input commands to the surgical hub to control devices coupled to the surgical hub located outside the sterile field.

  • Patent number: 8993059
Abstract: Methods of forming patterned coatings are disclosed. The methods include the steps of disposing a composition onto a substrate to form a liquid coating on the substrate and providing or removing energy through a first pattern of areas on the coated film to form a morphologically patterned coating, the morphological pattern corresponding to the first pattern of areas.

  • Patent number: 8182871
Abstract: Methods of forming patterned coatings are disclosed. The methods include the steps of disposing a composition onto a substrate to form a liquid coating on the substrate and removing or providing energy through a first pattern of areas on the liquid coating to form a topographically patterned coating, the topographical pattern corresponding to the first pattern of areas.

  • Publication number: 20120021134
Abstract: A process and apparatus for producing a polymer coating with reduced defects is described. The process includes coating a solution of a polymerizable material and a solvent on a substrate, polymerizing a portion of the polymerizable material, and removing a major portion of the solvent after polymerization of the portion of polymerizable material. A further polymerization of any remaining polymerizable material can occur after removal of the solvent. The apparatus includes a webline for conveying a substrate from an unwind roll to a windup roll, a coating section proximate the unwind roll for coating a solution of a polymerizable material and a solvent on the substrate, a polymerization section downweb from the coating section for polymerizing a portion of the polymerizable material, and a solvent removal section downweb from the polymerization section for removing the solvent after polymerization of the portion of the polymerizable material.

  • Patent number: 6875238
Abstract: A prosthetic joint has two load-bearing surfaces that are slidingly disposed relative to each other and define a region of frictional contact. The joint is thermally managed as heat is removed from the region of frictional contact during joint use by thermal conduction so that the surfaces are maintained approximately at or below specified temperatures. Embodiments of femoral ball members and acetabular cup members to be used in thermally managed prosthetic hip joints are provided.

  • Patent number: 6547824
Abstract: A prosthetic joint in an embodiment has two load-bearing surfaces that are slidingly disposed relative to each other and define a region of frictional contact. The joint is thermally managed as heat is removed from the region during joint use by thermal conduction so that the surfaces are maintained approximately at or below specified temperatures. In other embodiments, heat flows preferentially through one member which includes one of the surfaces. Use of high thermal conductivity materials in conjunction with various joint designs affording thermally managed devices are provided in numerous embodiments.

  • Patent number: 6024049
Abstract: A birdfeeder, in an embodiment, affords selective access to its contents. The embodiment includes an enclosure for storing food, a port disposed in the sidewall of the enclosure, and a conduit disposed in the port. The conduit provides communication between the contents of the birdfeeder through the port to an external location where birds may perch and feed. Both hanging and posted feeders as well as methods of selectively feeding birds are provided in a number of embodiments.
