  • Patent number: 5945791
Abstract: A sample of the high voltage retrace pulse is modeled across the series connection of a coil and low voltage winding of the flyback transformer. The AC current of the high voltage winding is fed through the coil in order to obtain the same retrace voltage shape as across the high voltage winding. Thus in this manner modeled high voltage retrace pulse is rectified by a diode and a charge capacitor. The rectified voltage is loaded by the beam current by a load resistor. The loading produces excellent tracking between the high voltage and the high voltage sample.

  • Patent number: 5841248
Abstract: An East-West switching transistor is coupled between a flyback transformer primary winding and a horizontal deflection output transistor circuit to control retrace energy to obtain an East-West modulation of the deflection current amplitude as required for East-West pincushion raster correction. A pair of series coupled first and second capacitors forming a capacitive voltage divider are coupled to a retrace resonant circuit that includes the deflection winding via a sampling switch, during a first half of a retrace interval, to produce a first ramping capacitor voltage in the first capacitor from a portion of a retrace pulse voltage. The first capacitor is coupled to an East-West pincushion raster correction current source for producing a second ramping capacitor voltage in the first capacitor that ramps in an opposite direction. A comparator is responsive to the capacitor voltage for controlling a conduction interval of the East-West switching transistor.

  • Patent number: 5661375
Abstract: A modulation circuit (Q.sub.1) supplies a correction current (i.sub.2) to an S-shaping capacitor (C.sub.23) to modulate the voltage across a deflection winding (L.sub.H) for correction of inner raster distortion. The frequency of the correction current is lower than line frequency for the correction of inner pincushion or barrel distortion. For correction of second order inner pincushion or barrel distortion, the frequency is higher than line frequency. The direction of the correction current in the S-capacitor can be made the same or opposite to the deflection current, resulting in an additive or a subtractive correction. The amount of the inner correction is adjustable independent of the outside raster correction. The modulation circuit is driven by deflection energy and is independent of the flyback transformer (T.sub.20).

  • Patent number: 4101814
Abstract: A horizontal deflection generator provides scanning current in a deflection winding and a pincushion modulating circuit is coupled to the deflection winding for modulating the horizontal scanning current. A vertical deflection generator and the horizontal deflection generator are coupled by means to the modulating circuit for providing vertical rate signals and nonlinear horizontal rate signals to the modulating circuit for providing a vertical rate distortion correction signal component modulated by the nonlinear horizontal rate signals for reducing the side pincushion distortion.

  • Patent number: 4096415
Abstract: In a switched vertical deflection circuit, two SCR switches couple horizontal retrace pulses to a capacitor. A modulator couples pulse width modulated gating pulses to the SCR's. The SCR's couple to the capacitor successively smaller portions of the horizontal retrace pulses during a first part of the vertical trace interval and successively larger portions during a second part for developing in a vertical deflection winding a sawtooth vertical deflection current. The modulator couples gating pulses to one of the SCR's during the vertical retrace interval for substantially loading the horizontal deflection circuit during the vertical retrace interval for preventing undesired oscillations within the horizontal deflection circuit.

  • Patent number: 4081722
Abstract: A modulator stage of a switched vertical deflection amplifier produces pulse width modulated gating signals obtained by modulating horizontal rate pulses including a ramp portion at a vertical deflection rate. The gating signals control switches coupled between a source of horizontal retrace pulses and a capacitor for charging the capacitor with decreasing and increasing amounts of energy during respective first and second intervals during each vertical trace interval for producing a sawtooth current in a vertical deflection winding coupled to the capacitor. A generator adds a nonlinear component to the ramp portions of the horizontal rate pulses for altering the gain of the amplifier during the vertical trace interval for producing a scanning current with a desired degree of linearity.

  • Patent number: 4079293
Abstract: A capacitor is coupled to a vertical deflection winding for forming a resonant circuit therewith during retrace. A switched mode vertical deflection amplifier generates trace current in the deflection winding. A feedback resistor samples the current in the deflection winding and provides a feedback voltage to the amplifier. In order to substantially diminish a ringing component of the trace current at the beginning of trace, a cancellation circuit provides the amplifier with a voltage which cancels the feedback voltage during at least the latter portion of retrace.

  • Patent number: 4048544
Abstract: First and second controllable switching stages are respectively coupled between a source of horizontal retrace pulses and a capacitor connected across a vertical deflection winding. A modulator is coupled to the switching stages for controlling the timing of conduction thereof relative to the timing of the horizontal retrace pulses. One switching stage charges the capacitor in one polarity with pulses of current of gradually decreasing amplitude and duration during a first portion of the vertical trace interval and the other switching stage charges the capacitor in the opposite polarity with pulses of current of gradually increasing amplitude and duration during a second portion of the vertical trace interval. The capacitor supplies scanning current of first and second polarities to the vertical deflection winding during respective first and second portions of each vertical trace interval.

  • Patent number: 3980927
Abstract: A deflection circuit wherein coupling capacitors are placed in series with the transformed yoke impedance to reduce capacitance values and voltage ratings of these capacitors. One of the coupling capacitors also serves to integrate a centering current developed by a centering circuit, thereby providing for a relatively uniform direct current component through the yoke windings throughout each horizontal line of scan.
