  • Publication number: 20120103659
Abstract: In an embodiment, an apparatus including a cable is disclosed. The cable includes at least two conductors, each conductor comprising a high-temperature superconductor material, wherein a first conductor is concentric within a second conductor, and wherein the first conductor is tapered at a first end of the cable and the second conductor is tapered at a second end of the cable.

  • Publication number: 20110255199
Abstract: Arc flash hazard reduction for transformer secondaries is provided. A current-limiting protection device such as a current-limiting fuse is located between the secondary windings of a transformer and switchgear having a main circuit breaker. Placing the current-limiting fuse between the secondary windings of the transformer and switchgear reduces arc flash hazard levels between the transformer and the switchgear.

  • Publication number: 20040036461
Abstract: A method for operating an electrical apparatus includes mounting an instrument transformer proximate a load current carrying conductor, wherein the instrument transformer includes a current transformer for supplying an analog input signal proportional to a load current, the current transformer is coupled to a relay front-end module that includes a current-to-voltage converter circuit and is configured to couple to a remote protection module, converting the analog input signal to a digital input signal, transmitting the digital input signal to the remote protection module; and activating contacts to operate the electrical apparatus based on the digital input signals.
