Abstract: It is disclosed that a configuring entity that is used in a network for the configuration of network resources can be used by a bandwidth broker for obtaining information regarding the availability of network resources in the network. The configuring entity may for instance be a DHCP server or Radius server. Instead of obtaining availability information by the bandwidth broker from many different resources in network, the bandwidth broker can according to the invention obtain information from a configuration entity. According to this invention it is acknowledged that information required by a bandwidth broker is already contained in the storage means of a configuring entity.
