  • Patent number: 11397293
Abstract: A light transmitting panel includes a lighting device and a light guide layer. The lighting device emits an input light. The light guide layer is formed from a phase separated glass material that includes a first material phase and a second material phase, wherein the first material phase functions to guide the input light along the light guide layer and the second material phase functions to scatter the input light so that at least part of the input light is directed out of the light guide layer as an output light.

  • Patent number: 11347096
Abstract: Light-control panels including layered optical components are described in this application. An example of a light-control panel includes first, second, and third glazing layers, first and second switchable components extending between the first and second glazing layers, and a third switchable component extending between the second and third glazing layers. The switchable components include a polymer-dispersed liquid-crystal (PDLC) device having a clear state and a hazy state, a guest-host liquid-crystal (GHLC) device having a clear state and a tinted state, and a light-guide device having a clear state and a bright state.

  • Patent number: 11339931
Abstract: Light-control panels including layered optical components are described in this application. An example of a light-control panel includes first and second glazing layers, first and second transitional layers extending between the first and second glazing layers that guide light emitted from a light source, and a third glazing layer extending between the first and second transitional layers through which light emitted from the light source is guided. The light-control panel also includes a light extraction layer extending between the third glazing layer and one of the first and second transitional layers that distributes light emitted from the light source. The first and second transitional layers have refractive indices that gradually decrease from a first value at surfaces proximate to the first and second glazing layers to a second value at surfaces proximate to the third glazing layer in the stack-up of the light-control panel.

  • Patent number: 11287701
Abstract: A switchable panel is described that includes exterior layers, lamination layers extending between the exterior layers to outer edges of the switchable panel, a switchable component extending between the lamination layers and having a switchable component height, and a tension control component that prohibits a change of greater than ten percent to the switchable component height when tension is applied to the switchable panel.

  • Patent number: 11237315
Abstract: Light-control panels including layered optical components are described in this application. An example of a light-control panel includes first and second glazing layers and first and second switchable components extending between the first and second glazing layers. The light-control panel also includes a thermal coating extending between the first switchable component and the first glazing layer and a filter extending between the first and second switchable components.

  • Patent number: 11186146
Abstract: A laminated glazing includes a first glass layer, a second glass layer, an interlayer, and an optical coating layer. The interlayer is between the first glass layer and the second glass layer and has a first textured surface with a texture. The optical coating layer is between the interlayer and the second glass layer and includes an optical coating material. One or more of the texture or the optical coating material is different between an outer region and a central region of the laminated glazing.

  • Patent number: 11180005
Abstract: A system such as a vehicle may have windows. A window may have a structural window layer such as a structural window layer formed from laminated glass layers. A thin chemically strengthened glass layer may be coupled to an inwardly facing surface of the structural window layer. A guest-host liquid crystal light modulator layer or other electrically adjustable optical component layer may be interposed between the chemically strengthened glass layer and the structural window layer. An infrared light-blocking coating may be formed on an inwardly facing surface of one of the pair of laminated glass layers. The inwardly facing surface of the thin chemically strengthened glass layer may be provided with a coating that includes a low emissivity layer to block heat and that serves as an antireflection coating.
