  • Patent number: 5620222
Abstract: The present invention provides a novel grapple type of device for removing bulky materials from containers such as rail cars. The invention conforms to the general shape of rail cars and is able to enclose the bulky material from all sides. Therefore a grapple is provided comprising a housing which has a side and an end, with the end being shorter in length than the side. The grapple also has an attachment device positioned on the housing for attaching a tension member to the housing. A plurality of tines are pivotally attached to the housing along the side and at least one fine is pivotally attached to the housing along the end. There are further a plurality of fine actuating devices, each of the actuating devices having a first end attached to the housing and a second end attached to one of the tines. Additionally, the grapple contains a fluid supply mechanism operatively attached to the tine actuating devices, the fluid supply mechanism being positioned on the grapple.

  • Patent number: 5443294
Abstract: A single-line clamshell bucket is provided comprising an upper sheave housing and an upper sheave assembly connected to the upper sheave housing. The bucket also comprises a lower sheave assembly vertically aligned beneath the upper sheave assembly in a manner such that a cable reeved between the lower sheave assembly and the upper sheave assembly will draw the upper sheave assembly and the lower sheave assembly together when the cable is pulled upward. The bucket further has a plurality of bucket segments and a plurality of arms, each of the arms having an end pivotally connected to the upper sheave housing and another end pivotally connected to one of the bucket segments. A lower block assembly is pivotally linked with the bucket segments in a manner such that vertical movement of the lower block assembly in relation to the upper sheave housing opens and closes the bucket segments.

  • Patent number: 5356082
Abstract: Method for treating an incinerated waste material feedstock to obtain a "free-from-ash" ferrous metal product and/or a "metal-free" ash product are disclosed which provide for early separation of the initial feedstock into a predominately ash stream and predominately ferrous metal stream by stepped separation based on size of the material at different stages of the process.

  • Patent number: 5174509
Abstract: Apparatus and processes for treating an incinerated waste material feedstock to obtain a "free-from-ash" ferrous metal product are disclosed which provide for early separation of the initial feedstock into a predominately ash stream and predominately ferrous metal stream by a two step separation based on size of the material and use of dual trommels or special bar screens and dual magnet arrangements.
