  • Patent number: 7415116
Abstract: An embodiment and/or method to improve communication in a vehicle. Voice signals of the occupants of a vehicle may be picked up on an individual basis via separately arranged microphones. The individually picked-up voice signals may then be amplified separately for each occupant in an input stage and filtered for purposes of minimizing interference levels and for frequency adaptation. The signals may be subjected in a process stage to a signal processing that may be specific to each output channel, in the form of a delay correction and a level differentiation. And, via an adaptation stage having a level adaptation, the signals may then be distributed to likewise separately assigned loudspeakers, in accordance with the spatial conditions of the vehicle and the desired loudness level. The embodiment and/or method may be effectively used in passenger cars, larger vehicles including multimedia buses and trucks, ships, trains and airplanes/airborne spaces.

  • Patent number: 5703955
Abstract: A multichannel sound reproduction method and apparatus are described for achieving a higher proportion in the overall room size for acoustic/visual use, which can be used for the listening-position-independent reproduction of spatial information in maintaining the given directional information of the individual sound signal sources. In the described method, each signal is split up and, after a summation, part of it with an increased delay, a modified level and a changed phase position is supplied to one of the unchanged signal portions, with the aggregate signals being distributed and supplied to the two surround reproduction channels and to other reproduction loudspeakers distributedly located in the room in conformity with directional allocation and in accordance with the relevant unchanged signal portions.

  • Patent number: 4618987
Abstract: The invention relates to acoustically radiating randomly large rooms and surfaces according to propagation time principles, whereby action or representation and reception or listening areas border directly on one another or are identical. Its object is to avoid error locations and skipping effects caused by movements, which are especially interfering for important solo sound sources. The resulting object of realizing a propagation time staggering without limiting source areas, and responding to the acoustic capacity of the sources, is solved by means of a control device connected to the delay or amplification devices, and which differentiatedly controls them analogous to the sound paths between the source and the acoustic radiator locations.
