  • Patent number: 9040571
Abstract: This invention concerns a method for the preparation of a suspoemulsion formulation, which can be easily produced on an industrial scale and which allows the reproducible and effective administration of one or more water-insoluble veterinary drugs through water distribution systems. The water-insoluble veterinary drug, in finely ground form, is dispersed in a water immiscible liquid, followed by homogenization of this system into a water phase. To facilitate the preparation of a stable formulation, one or more stabilizing agents such as emulsifiers, thickeners, anti-oxidants and anti-microbials can be used. The resulting suspoemulsion shows excellent long term storage stability and a good “in use” stability after dilution in a vessel and during all handling and transport in the water distribution system.

  • Patent number: 8465788
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a particular arabinoxylan (“AX”) preparation and the finding that this preparation has a beneficial effect on the organization of the intestinal microbial community in the lumen and in particular at the site of the gut mucosa, where it modulates the barrier function of the intestinal surface, primarily by modulating the mucosa-associated microbial community towards a relative increase of health beneficial bacteria, such as bifidobacteria and lactobacilli. It is accordingly a first aspect of the present invention to provide said arabinoxylan preparation characterized in comprising isolated water-soluble arabinoxylans and the use thereof to improve functioning (e.g. barrier function) of the intestinal epithelium.

  • Publication number: 20110045073
Abstract: The present invention relates to controlled release composition for preventing and/or treating microbial infections in the oral cavity of a subject, said composition comprising a controlled delivery matrix which matrix has releasably associated therewith an amount of between 0.000009 and 5 wt % of a sphingolipid, wherein the composition provides a sphingolipid-release-profile in the oral cavity of a subject, wherein said release-profile is maintained for between 15 seconds and 24 hours and wherein said release-profile provides for a concentration of said sphingolipid in the saliva of said subject of between 20 ?mole/L and 250 ?mole/L.

  • Publication number: 20040260082
Abstract: Useful polysaccharides, such as &bgr;-1,3-glucans, from a biological raw material can be solubilised and/or isolated by treating the raw material with an oxidising agent that leads to oxidation of primary hydroxyl groups in the glucan. The oxidising agent is preferably a catalytic amount of a nitroxyl compound in the presence of a re-oxidising agent such as hypochlorite or an oxidative enzyme with oxygen or hydrogen peroxide. The polysaccharide retains its useful properties during this treatment and is, moreover, more readily available. If desired, protein material from the raw material can also be utilised.

  • Patent number: 6475541
Abstract: The invention relates to a batter mix comprising genetically modified potato starch (GMPS), a process for the production of said batter mix, the use of said batter mix for the production of food products comprising said batter mix, preferably batter coated food products, which may be pre-fried, frozen and then preferably cooked in a microwave oven, whereby the use of the genetically modified potato starch in the batter mix compositions results in unexpected superior crispness of the food product.
