  • Patent number: 9515756
Abstract: Methods, devices, and computer program products facilitate establishing timing synchronization between two network entities. The timing information is exchanged between a slave device and a master device at the discretion of the slave device. The exchange of timing information can, therefore, be conducted adaptively based on the needs of the salve device. The timing information is also exchanged using fewer messages, thereby reducing network traffic, reducing overhead and facilitating synchronization acquisition.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 22, 2011
Date of Patent: December 6, 2016
    Assignee: SpiderCloud Wireless, Inc.
Inventors: Peter G. Khoury, Jeffery A. Gardner, Peter J. Roman

  • Patent number: 7593693
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for calculating spatial processing strategies in adaptive antenna array processing systems. Reference signal quality, intersymbol interference, data processed and received signal quality can be determined by burst type or remote device type and used to determine a synthetic signal level for use in developing a spatial processing strategy. A synthetic signal have an isotropically distributed component can be added to the antennas in the array or the diagonal elements of the received signal covariance matrix to develop uplink and downlink spatial processing strategies. Different synthetic signals at different signal levels can be used to develop different uplink and downlink spatial processing strategies. The downlink signal level can be larger than the uplink signal level. Uplink and downlink processing strategies can be developed in substantially the same way.

  • Patent number: 6504887
Abstract: A method of estimating a period and a time delay, or phase, of an input signal. A plurality of transition times {tilde over (t)}i are received, each transition time {tilde over (t)}i having a weight &agr;{tilde over (&ggr;)}i comprising a forgetting factor &agr; and a weighting factor {tilde over (&ggr;)}i. Upon receiving an Nth transition time to and determining an Nth weighting factor &ggr;0, maximum likelihood estimates {circumflex over (T)} and {circumflex over (t)}&phgr; of the period and the time delay, respectively, are calculated. The estimates are computed recursively, with {circumflex over (T)} depending upon &agr;, &ggr;0, t0, and a preceding maximum likelihood estimate {circumflex over (T)} of the period. The value of {circumflex over (t)}&phgr; depends upon &agr;, &ggr;0, and t0. The estimates {circumflex over (T)} and {circumflex over (t)}&phgr; also depend on sums SN−1(n)=&Sgr;i=−(N−2)0in&agr;−i{circumflex over (&ggr;)}i.
