    Abstract: The present invention is directed to a magnifying and/or corrective lens or optical element that may be removably adhered to a plano lens, such as the pane of a of a pair of spectacles or sunglasses, without the use of a mechanical retention device or other mechanical means for retention. The lenses are injection-molded from an aliphatic thermoplastic polyurethane, and capable of conforming to a variety of surface shapes and of adhering via tactile interactions to a plano lens without the use of an adhesive. The lenses may be securely but releasably secured to the surface of a plano lens by finger pressure alone due to their inherent molecular surface-adhesion characteristics to readily create magnifying or corrective lenses, or to modify the magnification or correction of a pair of sunglasses or plano eyeglasses. The lens of the present invention has at least one curved surface and a refractive index such that the curved surface and the refractive index cooperatively produce a nominal magnifying power.

    Abstract: A packaging container for self-adhering or stick-on lenses suitable for point-of-purchase display of such lenses which enables testing of the effectiveness and suitability of the stick-on lenses by a potential purchaser without removal of the stick-on lenses from the container in which packaged, which is essentially tamper-proof, and which may also serve as a convenient storage container or carrying case for the stick-on lenses. Stick-on lenses which may be conveniently displayed in a packaging container of the invention are such as may be adhered by autogenous or inherent adhesive characteristics to the interior surface of the lenses of a pair of sunglasses or like non-corrective spectacles.

    Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, a composition is provided with Vitamins C and E, zinc acetate, copper, selenium, manganese, and at least one of L-cysteine, pyridoxine, and riboflavin. The Vitamins C and E serve as antioxidants, while the zinc acetate, copper, selenium and manganese serve as cofactors for metalloenzymes which scavenge oxidizers. The remaining three compounds tend to enhance glutathione concentration. All the elements are provided in a tablet or caplet form which is suitable for oral ingestion. Preferably, the composition is taken periodically each day of a treatment period.

    Abstract: There is disclosed a dispensing container for dispensing sterile liquid medicament, for example into the eyes, e.g., liquid artificial tears, in which a filter is provided in the dispensing nozzle or in a closure member for the container having pores which are sufficiently small to filter out microorganisms, whereby an antibacterial agent need not be included in the medicament. A cap is provided for the dispensing nozzle, which cap may have an absorbent pad impregnated with an antibacterial agent to maintain the exit port of the dispensing nozzle sterile. The container may also have a filter provided in a vent in a wall thereof, whereby air drawn into the container to replace liquid medicament ejected through the nozzle thereof will be sterilized. The filter preferably comprises a plurality of hollow elongated filter fibers or tubes bent back on themselves and secured in the nozzle or closure member by a suitable potting material, having in any case pores not larger than about 0.2 micron in diameter.
