Abstract: A preharvest coating for reducing the incidence of lenticel breakdown (LB) includes a plant-derived oil as the primary active ingredient. Preferably, the oil is mixed with a surfactant and further mixed with water to form an emulsion that is sprayed onto the apples during the growing season. Although a single application is effective, further effectiveness can be achieved by additional applications of the emulsion to the growing apples.
