  • Publication number: 20230049594
Abstract: In one aspect, the invention provides a fluid dispenser comprising a housing configured to receive a means for pressurizing and a disposable fluid bag, and a nozzle towards a distal end. A means for flow control comprising a tubular body whose longitudinal axis coincides with the longitudinal axis of the nozzle having a diameter that tapers from the side distal to the nozzle towards the nozzle is provided. The tubular body is configured to move along its longitudinal axis such that a volume of a gap between the tubular body and the nozzle is varied thus controlling the flow rate. Further, an adapter configured to be fitted onto the nozzle capable of receiving at least one applicator is provided. The fluid dispenser of the invention is capable of being used in a variety of situations in a facile manner, replacing several different devices to be used for individual applications.

  • Publication number: 20130005026
Abstract: Point-of-care tools for screening biological samples for markers associated with pathogenic microbial infections. In particular, devices and systems for screening cervical cells for the expression of proteins, which occur as a result of human papillomavirus infection and progression to invasive cervical cancer.

  • Publication number: 20110144534
Abstract: A cell sample collection and transfer device is provided. The device may include a plunger configured to slide to a plurality of positions for controlling an expandable tip. The expandable tip may be operable to collect cell samples from a target site. In one example, the expandable tip may be further operable to transfer the collected cell samples when placed in contact with a receiving surface. In another example, the expandable tip may be removed from the device and placed in a storage container for further processing.

  • Patent number: 7838215
Abstract: Advanced cervical cancer screening methods that provide a molecular based process of detecting HPV-integration. The disclosed methods allow for a streamlined approach of conducting a Pap test and immunohistochemical test on the same slide. The disclosed methods provides an inexpensive, highly sensitive, specific, and detailed test that is easy to evaluate and follow-up.

  • Publication number: 20090105610
Abstract: A cell collector and cell collection method are provided for collecting clusters of cells for subsequent analysis of the cells to screen for abnormalities. The cell collector is designed to enhance the capability of the collector to pick-up clusters or clumps of cells, and to facilitate transfer of the collected clusters of cells onto a receiving structure, for example a slide. In one embodiment, a combination of the material of the collector, the texture of the collection surface of the collector, and the use of expansion and rotation of the collector during collection facilitate the collection of the clusters of cells.

  • Publication number: 20090017474
Abstract: Systems and methods of interrogating clusters of cells for two or more biological markers that do not, or rarely, occur in the same cell during normal cellular growth, development and function, to indicate the existence of cells that are part of a local area where a pre-neoplastic or neoplastic lesion may be present. The relationship among cells is maintained while interrogating the clusters of cells to facilitate the examination and determination of the existence of possible dysplasia.
