Patent number: 11252285Abstract: A menu of processing options of a publicly shared machine is presented on a user interface of a remote computerized device using an application (app). The publicly shared machine can include a printing component, a scanning component, a non-contact user identification component, etc. The app creates a job from options selected from the menu. The job is transmitted from the app to the publicly shared machine. The publicly shared machine notifies the app of availability to perform the job. In turn, the app provides a notice on the user interface of the remote computerized device that the publicly shared machine is available to perform the job. These methods further identify the user present at the publicly shared machine using the non-contact user identification component, allowing the publicly shared machine to perform the job based on the non-contact user identification, without requiring additional user interaction with the publicly shared machine.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 2021Date of Patent: February 15, 2022Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Noah J. D. Ullmann, Jeremy H. L. Griffith, John F. Whiting, Rajana M. Panchani, Peter Granby, Michael D. McGrath

Patent number: 10868930Abstract: A method provides for language selection on a shared local user interface, such as an interface for operating a printer that is used by multiple users having a variety of first languages. The method includes providing at least one mechanism on a shared local user interface for selection of one of an original set of languages for text to be displayed on the local user interface. One mechanism may include displaying text in each of the languages contemporaneously or sequentially. At a plurality of times, a respective user's selection of one of the original set of languages is received. Based on a plurality of user selections, a modified set of languages can be learned which is then used in place of the original set of languages when providing the at least one language selection mechanism at a subsequent time.Type: GrantFiled: May 14, 2019Date of Patent: December 15, 2020Assignee: XEROX CORPORATIONInventors: Kenneth B. Schleede, Peter Granby, Rajana Mukesh Panchani, Mirelsa Fontanes-Pérez

Publication number: 20190279152Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for tracking and recording package delivery data. In an example embodiment, a memory label can be provided, which includes micro-circuits printed on the memory label. Such micro-circuits include rewritable memory. The memory label is configured to include a pre-determined set of data regarding a package to be delivered in a delivery workflow. The pre-determined set of data is stored in the rewritable memory. The pre-determined set of data can be updated at each subsequent point in the delivery workflow to produce updated data about the package.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 12, 2018Publication date: September 12, 2019Inventors: Peter Granby, Christopher Dermott Wigens, Rajana Mukesh Panchani

Patent number: 10097708Abstract: A processor is electrically connected to a scanner, an electronic memory electrically, and a user interface (having a display screen). The display screen displays dimension input fields that identify dimensions of an item to be scanned using the scanner. The display screen also displays an option to reuse the most recently used input dimensions for the item to be scanned, and an option to select from a list of recently used input dimensions for the item to be scanned. The processor saves values of the dimension input fields in the electronic memory, upon the dimensions of an item to be scanned being identified by the user through the dimension input fields.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 2017Date of Patent: October 9, 2018Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Peter Granby, Rajana Mukesh Panchani

Patent number: 9250599Abstract: An auto tray switching method that is invoked when a misfeed occurs includes automatically switching to a different paper tray that has appropriate paper stock to continue a job. A misfeed signal is indicated only if the tray in which the misfeed occurred is selected by a user for another job.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 2015Date of Patent: February 2, 2016Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Richard Bradford, Peter Granby, Stephen Foster, Wayne Rudge, John A Kerslake, Christopher D Olliffe

Patent number: 9207609Abstract: A method of printing is provided comprising: assigning a first set of image performance parameters from a plurality of image performance parameters to an associated image job; communicating the initially assigned first set of image performance parameters of the associated image job to an image marking engine; determining a queue of other image jobs assigned to the image marking engine, wherein the other image jobs are queued before the associated image job; and, assigning a second set of image performance parameters to the associated image job. The second set of image performance parameters can alter the first set of image performance parameters. The altering of the first set of image performance parameters to the second set of image performance parameters reduces a print duration to complete printing of the associated image job. The altering can further include reordering the queue of print jobs.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 2013Date of Patent: December 8, 2015Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Peter Granby, Stephen Foster, Wayne Rudge, Richard Bradford, John Kerslake, Christopher D. Patent number: 9122432Abstract: Disclosed are devices, including both a front-end computerized device used to submit a print job and a printing device receiving a print job, that can detect a floating signature on the signature page of an electronic document in the print job and can halt printing of that print job until further action is taken by a user. The devices can apply a set of heuristics to analyze the electronic document in order to determine whether it has a signature page and, if so, whether the signature page contains a floating signature. When a floating signature is detected, the device can notify a user and can preclude printing of the print job until such time as a response to the notification is received. Also disclosed herein are associated methods for detecting a floating signature and for halting printing of a print job until further action is taken.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 2014Date of Patent: September 1, 2015Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Peter Granby, Stephen Foster, Wayne Rudge, Richard Bradford, John A.
