Abstract: A system and a method for determining customer satisfaction with a selected merchant based on chargeback transaction data in a database of transactions. An indication, which can be a number representative of customer satisfaction, is generated by comparing the number of chargeback transactions for the selected merchant with the total number of transaction not involving chargebacks for that merchant. The comparison can be made during various time periods, such as from a month to a year. The indication representative of customer satisfaction for selected merchants may be made available to merchants and to consumers, so that comparisons may be made to other businesses to help make decisions concerning improving performance for a merchant, and for deciding from which merchant a consumer should make a purchase. The data is collected automatically as a result of the transactions, without requiring input from the consumer.

Abstract: A system and a method for determining whether a refund has been issued by at least one of multiple parties having potential responsibility for issuing a refund. Issuance of multiple refunds to a claimant or claimants, or chargebacks to acquirers when a refund has been issued is prevented. The system includes an electronic storage device that has a database of data concerning transactions, including data as to whether a refund has been issued, an access path that allows access to and supplementing of data concerning a transaction, and a processor for assembling the data concerning the transaction so that access is provided to the multiple parties granted selected access to the data.

Abstract: A method for applying coupon rules to a financial transaction includes storing a plurality of coupon rules, each coupon rule associated with a consumer and a merchant and including an amount modifier and funding account number; receiving an authorization request for a financial transaction, the authorization request including a consumer identifier, a merchant identifier, and a transaction amount; identifying, at least one coupon rule of the plurality of coupon rules where the associated consumer corresponds to the consumer identifier and the associated merchant corresponds to the merchant identifier; modifying the financial transaction based on the at least one coupon rule by modifying the transaction amount based on the amount modifier; and transmitting a reply to the authorization request, the reply to the authorization request including at least the modified transaction amount.
