  • Patent number: 5004249
Abstract: A flat gasket, e.g. a cylinder head gasket of an internal combustion engine is described, which has through openings with metallic U-borders. The outer surface of at least one of the U-legs is provided with a structure that allows a residual quantity of an impregnating agent with which the soft material of the gasket is impregnated, to remain adhering in such a uniform manner that, after crosslinking, an adequate microsealing and macrosealing is ensured. In the unloaded state, as a result of the surface tension of the impregnating agent, the structure ensures that said agent continues to adhere in finely divided form with a convex meniscus.

  • Patent number: 4993723
Abstract: A flat gasket, especially an intake elbow gasket for an internal combustion engine. The gasket has projecting sealing parts, especially sealing beads, for producing a defined pressure. Those sealing parts that are provided at critical areas of the flat gasket are provided with at least one additional sealing portion, which projects beyond the associated sealing parts.

  • Patent number: 4880669
Abstract: A flat gasket with a core and mesh-like elastomeric overlays where the overlays are screen-printed onto the core. The dimensions and shape of the mesh can be varied continuously over the surface of the core allowing the gasket to be adjusted for its intended use. Additional reinforcements may be printed onto the core and overlays at the same time the overlays are printed, reducing processing time and expense and allowing the gasket to be further adapted for its intended use.
