  • Patent number: 5251550
Abstract: The invention is directed to apparatus whose weapon efficiency is effected in cooperation via a highly compressed magnetic field, wherein the base magnetic field is maintained or increased beforehand by magnetohydrodynamic generator stages which are operated by propelling charges and/or explosives.

  • Patent number: 5003884
Abstract: The invention is directed to a hollow or projectile charge with an explos material charge (6) and a lining (9) acted upon by the detonation of the explosive material and forming a spike or a projectile (16). In order to achieve the highest possible accelerations for the spike or projectile, the lining (9) is constructed as a part of the hollow space (10) with walls (4, 5) of a good electrically conducting material in which a primarily fed magnetic field (H) is enclosed and compressed by means of the detonation of the explosive material (6). The hollow space (10) is preferably formed by means of a coaxial system (3) of an inner conductor (4) and an outer conductor (5), which coaxial system is short-circuited at both sides, wherein the outer conductor is encased by explosive material (6). During the detonation of the explosive material, the outer conductor (5) is pressed against the inner conductor so that the hollow space (10) located between the outer and inner conductor is constantly reduced.

  • Patent number: 4972757
Abstract: The invention is directed to a ranging gun (1a to 1f) for a mass (17, 18) which is to be accelerated. The ranging gun comprises a coaxial system as acceleration system, which coaxial system consists of an outer conductor (2) and an inner conductor (3) which are electrically connected with one another by means of a short-circuit bridge (9) which terminates the coaxial system. In the coaxial system, a strong current pulse is fed at one side. Next, an explosive charge, which is aligned along the coaxial system, is ignited at the feed location so that the outer and inner conductors (2, 3) contact and a closed hollow space (10) is formed. The front termination is formed by a plasma bridge (11) which has formed from the short-circuit bridge (9) by means of the vaporization of the bridge material after feeding the strong current pulse.

  • Patent number: 4638130
Abstract: An acceleration sensor comprises a housing formed with a hollow cavity deing a sensing direction. An acceleration sensing conductive mass is releasably mounted in the cavity. The mass is released by a cutting member which severs the releasable mounting of the acceleration sensing mass. A force applying assembly is activated to cause movement of the cutting member. Switch electrodes are arranged at the lower end of the housing cavity. The mass falls through a predetermined distance and bridges the switch electrodes. The sensing mass, when severed, may move in incremental steps due to the use of a two-stage releasing assembly. Sensing transducers may be located along the falling path of the acceleration sensing conductive mass.

  • Patent number: 4516501
Abstract: Ammunition, such as a warhead with an explosive charge comprises a casing which is provided with a material construction of a nature providing at least controlled formation of fragments of a certain preferred mass, coverings for formation of explosion formed projectiles of a certain preferred mass, or preformed fragments of a certain preferred mass. The explosive charge is located within the casing and there are means for selective munition conversion alternatively to control formation of fragments or to natural fragmentation. For this purpose one or more recesses are provided in the explosive charge adjacent the casing as a means for munition conversion to the formation of explosion formed projectiles or unshattered preformed fragments. The filling of inert material is provided in at least a portion of the recess and it comprises a liquid inert material or a plastic inert material or a liquid explosive or plastic explosive.

  • Patent number: 4425850
Abstract: An explosive device is disclosed which comprises a cylindrical casing filled with explosive charge. The charge is covered at one or both of its sides by a fragmentable lining which is fragmented by explosion of the explosive charge and movement of the shock wave in an effective direction. A recess is provided in the explosive charge which contains an inner booster charge surrounded by an outer annular booster charge. The inner and outer booster charges may be separated by a thin wall with openings in the wall communicating with spaced in the recess on sides of the outer booster charge. A damming lining covers a part of the outer booster charge and is spaced from the outer booster charge to form the spaces.
