  • Publication number: 20090012387
Abstract: The invention provides a novel way of handling electric or electromagnetic signals during magnetic resonance (MR) measurements. Non-MR data signals such as EPH signals (e.g. EEG, ECG, blood pressure, respiration) or subject responses (e.g. keystrokes, joystick movements) originating in the MR suite is recorded while performing magnetic resonance imaging or spectroscopy. Relatively simple, possibly battery driven hardware is used to transform the non-MR signals into radio waves detectable by the MR apparatus. The electrical signals are in this way encoded as artifacts appearing in the MR images or spectra outside the region of interest, and the encoded signals can subsequently be reconstructed from the signal recorded by the scanner If oversampling is employed, artifacts can be avoided altogether. The method inherently provides superior synchronisation between the sampling of non-MR data signals and the MR sequence.

  • Patent number: 5097938
Abstract: Apparatus for transferring test strips (T), which have detectably different sides and ends, to an examining apparatus, having a collecting chamber for receiving a loose bundle of test strips (T) in which identical ends point in the same direction, having a separator which feeds the test strips (T) individually to a slide member which is movable back and forth between a receiving station and a delivery station, and having a turner controlled by a detector, the turner ensuring that all the test strips (T) in the delivery station are arranged on the slide member with identical sides facing upwards, characterized in that the separator has a chute terminating over the receiving station, from which the test strips (T) are individually fed, with a longitudinal edge pointing downwards, to a deflector controlled by the detector, the deflector sending the test strips (T) away with identical sides facing upwards.

  • Patent number: 4467723
Abstract: A fuze for a spinning projectile has a firing pin which is held against movement by a safety device until the projectile has traveled a preset distance. The safety device comprises a coil spring strip which overlies the firing pin in its initially coiled-up state, and releases the firing pin when in a centrifugally-induced expanded state. The spring coil is arranged to be highly elastic so as to be returnable to its initially coiled-up, evenly wound state, even after the projectile has been subjected to jarring during transport, etc. The coil strip has a tensile strength of 1200 to 2800 N/mm.sup.2 and a thickness greater than 20 .mu.m.

  • Patent number: 4249709
Abstract: A mechanism for the automatic respooling of safety belts including a belt spindle rotatable in a housing and including a roll-up spring tensioned by the pull out of the belt and engaged by the belt spindle, and a friction brake relieving the belt pull back force. The friction brake including a first friction element connected to the belt spindle and a second friction element rotatably mounted and continuously in frictional engagement with the first friction element, and wherein the second friction element is fixed in angular relationship on the housing by means of a stop lever. The apparatus further comprises an automatically-functioning two-arm stop lever having a slot which is disposed about a pivot pin attached to said housing and said lever is pivoted on said pin and displaced or movable along said slot.
