  • Patent number: 4594068
Abstract: Disclosed is a roll-fusing apparatus comprising a heated fusing roller and a pressure roller which form a roller gap therebetween. The shape of the non-cylindrical roller core and the coating of the pressure roller makes it possible to fuse the toner images on copy supports which remain free of wrinkles after passing through the roller gap. In addition, duplication of the copy image does not occur up to DIN A1 size copies. The roller core and the coating of the pressure roller, comprising a silicone elastomer coating and a shrunk-on tubing have varying thicknesses over the length of the roller. As a result, the speed of passage of the copy support at the edges of the roller gap is modified, compared with the speed of passage obtained with a pressure roller having a cylindrical roller core and a cylindrical coating.

  • Patent number: 4341458
Abstract: Disclosed is a thermal pressure fixing device for a copier, comprising a pressure roll and a fixing roll for heating and pressing an image-receiving material carrying a toner image, whereby during the passage of the image-receiving material between the rolls the latter are in pressure contact with each other, whereas during a standstill of the copier or in the case of a copier malfunction, the pressure of the rolls is discontinued. There are provided a device for lifting the pressure roll toward the fixing roll and for separating the two rolls, and a clutch and brake mechanism interacting with this device. Resilient elements adapt the center distance between the pressure roll and the fixing roll to the changes occurring in diameter of these rolls, in such a way that the preset roll pressure between the rolls remains constant.

  • Patent number: 4269409
Abstract: Disclosed is an improved transport mechanism for cyclically conveying an original past an optical scanning device in an electrophotographic copying machine of the type in which a gripping unit engages a leading edge of an original during the entire cycling time, which reduces distortion, maximizes utilization of the transport mechanism, and enables the use of lower illumination intensities by optically scanning the original as a planar surface and by providing a pair of transport rollers downstream of the optical scanning device to insure a fast cycling and delivery of the original.

  • Patent number: 4199269
Abstract: Disclosed is a device for mixing and/or conveying, in particular for mixing and conveying a developer composition in an electrophotographic copying machine. The device comprises an elongated member which is rotatable about its longitudinal axis, this member comprising a T-shaped lateral cross-section which has been spirally twisted about its longitudinal axis, whereby at least two portions of the T cross-section comprise helically extending mixing and/or conveying elements. Also disclosed is a method for manufacturing such a device.

  • Patent number: 4087177
Abstract: Disclosed is a sheet conveying mechanism for an original to be reproduced in a reproducing apparatus, comprising means, including a rotatable drum having an air-permeable circumferential shell surface, for supporting the original; non-rotatable means disposed within the drum for dividing the space within the drum and the circumferential shell surface of the drum into three separate regions; means associated with the drum for selectively producing positive and negative pressure within each of the separate drum regions; means for exposing and scanning the original, positioned adjacent a first one of said separate drum regions; means, associated with the drum and being responsive to movement of the original around the drum, for controlling the pressure-producing means; and first and second means, cooperating with the drum and located adjacent the circumferential shell surface of the drum in the area of a second one of the separate drum regions, for transporting the original around the drum.

  • Patent number: 3993428
Abstract: A structure is described which consists of a corrugated and a flat sheet or film of thermoplastic material, which sheets are positively connected by matching depressions with undercuts arranged along the grooves of the corrugated sheet and at corresponding points of the flat sheets. The structure is especially suited to make inserts for trickling-filter towers.
