  • Publication number: 20100027863
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for the detection of atypical vessels in digital cervical imagery. A pre-processing stage is applied to enhance the contrast of blood vessel features compared to the surrounding tissue. Next, a segmentation stage is applied to identify regions of interest for atypical vessels using texture and gradient information. Finally, a post-processing stage (1) identifies other clinically relevant features in the cervical imager, and removes these features from the region of interest; and (2) uses color, size, and shape information to further refine the region of interest to eliminate false positives and determine a final region of interest. This automated method of atypical vessel detection is especially useful for diagnostic purposes such as cervical cancer detection.

  • Publication number: 20100025566
Abstract: The present invention discloses methods and systems for improved focusing of imaging systems for the acquisition of high-quality focused tissue image data. A light emitter (L) aims a focusing light beam (FLB) towards an object of interest (O) so that the focusing light beam (FLB) is at an angle relative to the optical axis (OA) of the imager (I). If the object of interest (O) is out of focus, the focusing light spot (FLS) will appear above or below the focal point in the image (I). The pixel difference between the center of the focusing light spot (FLS) and the focal point indicates the range adjustment value. The range between the imager (I) and the object of interest (O) can then be adjusted according to the range adjustment value using a lookup table or calculations.

  • Publication number: 20080055089
Abstract: A radio-frequency identification (RFID) label carries an embedded RFID antenna and is capable of being affixed to a package or label. The RFID enabled label includes a bottom portion and an RFID flap that includes a first portion attached to the bottom portion and a second portion that carries the RFID antenna. The RFID flap can be placed in a first position in which the second portion carrying the RFID antenna lies adjacent to the bottom portion, such that the RFID enabled label can be used in conjunction with a printer. The RFID flap is put into a second position in which the second portion carrying the RFID antenna is displace from the bottom portion. Displacing the RFID antenna from the bottom portion results in the RFID antenna being displace from the package or surface to which the bottom portion is affixed, allowing the RFID antenna to operate without interference from the package or surface.

  • Patent number: 7324125
Abstract: A method for automatically adjusting the setting of a thermal printer when a new roll of media is inserted in the printer. A maximum and a minimum energy needed to print are determined. This information is used to determine a coarse energy setting. The printer next performs a series of adjustments to find the optimal setting. The optimal setting is used to set the printer automatically.

  • Publication number: 20070151651
Abstract: A method of gap detection between successive adhesive layers on a media carrier using reflective florescence. Roll of label media is obtained and placed on a printer (not shown). Labels pass by a UV light source and labels and carrier reflect back a portion of the UV light. The reflected light is detected by a photosensor. The difference in florescence between label and carrier is detected. Location of the change of florescence identifies the location of the beginning of gap/end of label or the end of gap/beginning of label. The printer is adjusted if necessary to ensure any markings, printing, logos, symbologies or other indicia is printed in the correct position on label.

  • Patent number: 7181055
Abstract: The image registration systems and methods according to this invention register reflectance and fluorescence hyperspectral imagery and provide the spatial image transformation between the reflectance and fluorescence hyperspectral imagery. A reflectance image is embedded into the fluorescence hyperspectral imagery and thereby resolves the resemblance problem of reflectance and fluorescence hyperspectral imagery. The reflectance image is embedded into the fluorescence hyperspectral imagery using (1) light from a narrow-band source embedded in Ultraviolet (UV) excitation light, (2) second order diffracted light, and/or (3) Ultraviolet (UV) excitation light reflectance. Resembling reflectance images are calculated from the reflectance hyperspectral imagery and the embedded reflectance image in the fluorescence hyperspectral imagery. The two respective reflectance images are pre-processed to maximize the resemblance between them.

  • Publication number: 20060006080
Abstract: The present invention relates to a card assembly comprising a cover and a data storage means. The cover comprises a back sheet, a front sheet and an intermediate sheet, which are integral and connected by one folding line area respectively. The intermediate sheet has a through hole adapted to the data storage means and the data storage means is placed in the through hole. The back sheet, the front sheet and the intermediate sheet are folded together along the folding line areas and permanently attached together, wherein the data storage means is enclosed in a pocket. The back sheet has a tear portion, which is operable to open the pocket and expose a part of the data storage means for enabling removal of the data storage means from the pocket and reinsertion thereof into the pocket. The present invention also relates to a blank for a cover for such a card assembly and to method for manufacturing such a card assembly.

  • Patent number: 6701429
Abstract: A method for simultaneous start-up of a plurality of processors in a multiprocessing system is disclosed, whereby a special hardware register (e.g., “WhoAmI register”) can be shared by the plurality of different processors. Alternatively, a separate WhoAmI register can be provided for one or more of the different processors. When a processor performs a read operation on a WhoAmI register, the register returns an identification number associated with that processor. Consequently, this processor can perform a set of test and jump instructions to access and execute the appropriate start-up code for this processor. Other embodiments disclosed include a method for distributing interrupts in a multiprocessing system, a method for bus arbitration in a multiprocessing system, and a method for creating atomic instructions that can be used for synchronization in a multiprocessing system.
