  • Patent number: 12083577
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a tear-off lid (27). A lid blank (9) is punched with a punching tool (1, 5) having a die (6) and a cutting punch (2, 3) to form a lid ring (8) with a central removal opening (17) surrounded by a sealing flange (18). The edge of the removal opening (17) is then formed by drawing to a collar (20) projecting from the sealing flange (18) on the intended inside of the lid (underside), the collar (20) is rolled up at its free end and a tear-off foil (24) is sealed or glued onto the sealing flange (18) on the intended outside of the lid (upper side). In accordance with the invention, the die (6) is arranged on the inner side (bottom) of the lid and the cutting punch (2, 3) is moved into the die (6) from the outer side (top) of the lid while punching out a punched pad (16) and the punched pad (16) is conveyed by compressed air through the die (6) to a conveyor (33) by means of which it is removed from the tool area.

  • Patent number: 7975362
Abstract: The invention relates to a processing device for covers (20), wherein processing stations are embodied as individual processing stations (47) provided with, respectively, one tool for one cover. Several of said stations work in parallel for the simultaneous processing of several covers. If need be, stations can also be used wherein several tools form groups which are functionally separate from each other. As a result, the processing precision and production speed of the objects can be increased.

  • Patent number: 7810377
Abstract: In a linear transport device (30) for tear-off lids (20), the latter are tested for the impermeability of the seal and the foil in a test device (9) that is integrated into the linear transport device. The lid is fixed between a pressure chamber (43) and a measuring chamber (47, 48, 49) in an airtight manner and a test pressure is applied to the lid from the underside. An air-permeable support (47) in the measuring chamber exerts pressure on the upper face of the lid and any increase in air pressure in the measuring chamber caused by a degree of permeability is detected and evaluated by a sensor (55). A burst test can be carried out in the same test device.

  • Publication number: 20080022632
Abstract: A method and an apparatus are provided for taking heat images of heat sealed seams. Such seams are made in heat sealing stations and in particular when making covers or lids, respectively, for containers, being provided with a tear-off foil that closes the container up to the first use of its contents. For ascertaining the air-tightness of the heat sealed seam during manufacturing a heat image of the seam is taken while the seam is still hot. By evaluating the image it can be detected whether the temperature of the seam is within a range that assures a correct seam or has exceeded an upper or lower limit for the temperature which is indicative of a defective heat sealed seam. Defective objects can then be discarded based on the evaluation of the heat image. This test of the correctness of the heat sealing is much faster than a pressure differential test testing the actual air tightness of the seam and can thus be used in high speed manufacturing apparatus for covers or lids, respectively.

  • Publication number: 20050103757
Abstract: A method for the manufacture of welded tubes is provided. The tube bodies are produced in a press or rounding apparatus and are fed to a welding machine, such as a laser or electron beam type welding machine. The tube is formed when the edges of the tube bodies are welded together. The method includes the transfer of the tube bodies from the press or rounding apparatus to the draw-in of the welding machine. One or more transfer modules, each having a separate drive, are used to convey the tube bodies. The one or more transfer modules, which are operated by a common control arrangement, are controlled so that the intermittently formed tube bodies are presented at the draw-in to the welding machine in as nearly continuous a sequence as possible.
