  • Patent number: 4485329
Abstract: A cathode ray tube has discrete x-ray absorbing means integrally associated with the face region thereof to beneficially attenuate the x-radiation emanating peripherally and forwardly therefrom. Attached to the tube face is a closed frame-like resilient gasket impregnated with x-ray absorbing material. Superposed thereon is a cover plate of x-ray absorbing glass. This is adhered to the tube face by a layer of substantially transparent adhesive confined within the gasket.

  • Patent number: 4047424
Abstract: Apparatus comprising a conveyor adapted to move a plurality of test receptacles along a given path. Spaced along the path are means for adding a test fluid to the receptacles; first means for checking a desired parameter of the test fluid; means for inserting a cell; second means for checking the fluid for changes after a sufficient digestion period; means for comparing the two readings; and means for removing the cell. Additional means can also be provided for emptying the test fluid and rinsing the receptacles.

  • Patent number: 4011371
Abstract: A neutralizing agent is maintained adjacent the seal area of electrochemical cells containing corrosive electrolytes. The neutralizing agent can be kept in a pocket or depression formed in a flange next to the seal or can be contained in a suitable plastic ring which surrounds the seal. When the electrolyte is thionyl chloride and aluminum chloride a suitable neutralizing agent is sodium carbonate.

  • Patent number: 3931442
Abstract: The invention provides a temporary light attenuation coating modification of the apertures in a multi-apertured pattern member for utilization in selected steps of the procedure for fabricating a patterned color screen structure disposed on the interior surface of a cathode ray tube viewing panel. The modification is in the form of a dried coating of a water-soluble polyhydric secondary alcohol uniformly covering the apertured portion of the pattern member to effect a bridging meniscus of coating in each of the apertures. Dissolved in the coating vehicle is a homogeneous dispersion of a ultraviolet absorbing material. Each attenuating meniscus effects a differential or graded degree of uv absorption resultant of the inherent variation in thickness of the bridging formation and the amount of uv absorber dissolved therein. In addition, the absorptive coating residual on the interstitial areas defining the apertures reduces deleterious reflections of actinic radiation during screen structure fabrication.
