    Abstract: A brake is disclosed for use with motor vehicles and particularly with motor vehicle trailers having heavy axles. The brake includes a brake ring which is connected securely to the wheel hub. At least two brake shoes act on the external peripheral surface of the brake ring. Each brake shoe is mounted on one end of a two-arm lever. The two-arm levers may be mounted on the axle. The other ends of the two-arm levers are actuated by a hydraulic operating device, such as a hydraulic or pneumatic cylinder.
