  • Patent number: 5515223
Abstract: A cleaning cassette for magnetic heads in a cassette drive includes at least one container with cleaning fluid, comprising an at least partially flexible hollow body, at least one valve device and at least one feed channel for the cleaning fluid to the cleaning device. The cleaning system can be used for tape cassettes and disk cassettes with magnetic medium.

  • Patent number: 5235573
Abstract: Moving laser beams from useful tracks to alternative positions in devices in which information is stored optically or magneto-optically. This results in higher signal-to-noise ratios.

  • Patent number: 4739430
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for positioning a plurality of scanning devices, in particular magnetic heads, over preselected tracks on a stack of at least two rotatable recording disks in a memory processing unit, in which apparatus the single-beam section of the supporting arm of the magnetic heads has been produced integral with the head tower and is provided with mounting means for at least one magnetic head on a spring-supporting means, in particular for a pair of magnetic heads previously connected to one another, so that it is possible to replace any head or pair of heads. The apparatus can be used in magnetic storage systems, industrial production equipment etc.

  • Patent number: 4319354
Abstract: A device for positioning magnetic heads over preselected tracks on magnetic disks in memory processing units, the device consisting essentially of a linear electric motor, including a stationary, partially hollow magnetic device, and of a support member and a guide member which is mounted on the latter in an axially movable manner and is provided with at least one head mount for at least one head support, wherein the support member is mounted at one end of the magnetic device and is otherwise unsupported by the chassis of the memory processing unit.

  • Patent number: 4206489
Abstract: An automatic loading/unloading device for at least one magnetic head, consisting essentially of a support for the head and a spring-like member incorporating a ramp, the head support being decouplable from the spring-like member during loading and recouplable thereto upon unloading. The loading/unloading device of the invention can be used with advantage in any type of magnetic storage system which employs rigid magnetic media and magnetic heads which can be positioned relative to said magnetic media.

  • Patent number: 4196456
Abstract: A positioning device for objects of low mass, particularly magnetic heads in memory processing units having at least one pivotable head support and at least one pivotable support for at least one coil, which coil support is located in the air gap of a magnet assembly, the magnet assembly comprising pairs of flat permanent magnets whose air gaps are arranged next to each other and whose poles are so arranged that poles of unlike polarity are opposite each other, and the coil(s) being of elongate shape, the longitudinal conductors of which coil(s) are always located inside the said air gaps and the transverse conductors are always located outside said air gaps. The device of the invention can be used for all positioning operations requiring a very high degree of accuracy, in particular to position write/read devices of every kind and measuring and testing probes in control engineering and the laboratory.
