  • Patent number: 11078790
Abstract: A drilling and bolting device for driving a drill element into a rock surface includes a frame, a drive unit supported for movement relative to the frame, and an actuator for moving the drive unit relative to the frame. The drive unit includes a motor and a chuck for engaging the drill element. The chuck is driven by the motor. In some aspects, the actuator includes a magnet exerting a magnetic force on the block to provide magnetic coupling between the actuator and a block supporting the motor. In some aspects, the actuator is positioned at least partially within an elongated member of the frame. In some aspects, the drive unit includes a switched reluctance motor including a stator and a rotor supported for rotation relative to the stator, and the rotor is directly coupled to the chuck.

  • Patent number: 10545476
Abstract: A method of self-balancing a plurality of mechanical components within a temperature control unit of an HVAC system. Each mechanical component is adjustable by the controller to vary airflow within the temperature control unit. For each mechanical components, a property is measured. An estimated condition of the mechanical component is calculated based on the measured property and known qualities of the temperature control unit. A desired condition for the mechanical component is determined based on a desired air condition within the HVAC system or building envelope. The estimated condition of the mechanical component is compared to the desired condition of the component. The condition of the mechanical component is changed using a controller to more closely align the estimated condition to the desired condition to achieve the desired indoor air condition. Steps are repeated until the difference between the estimated condition and desired condition is within a threshold value.

  • Publication number: 20190249715
Abstract: A ball bearing control assembly includes a cylindrical flexible sheath. A pair of stationary races defines a first raceway. A force transmission member defines a second raceway on opposing sides. Rolling members have a center point and are in rolling contact with the first and the second raceways as the force transmission member translates axially within the sheath. A ball guide interacts with the rolling members to constrain the majority of the rolling member. In one example, the ball guide interacts with the rolling members at two locations on each axial side of the rolling members. The two locations are positioned at different distances from the second raceway. The stationary races are located between the ball guide and the flexible sheath, and the ball guide is located between the stationary races and the force transmission member. Other examples can include two ball guides.

  • Publication number: 20050018896
Abstract: A method for verifying legibility of an image of a check captured in digital image data, the check having two groups of characters on a front side thereof. Each group includes characters which are numeric representations. The characters in one group have a predetermined relationship to the characters in another group. Each said group is spaced apart from each other and located in a preselected pattern. The method includes the steps of extracting images of each said group from the digital image data, recognizing the images to provide image values of the characters, performing operations on certain image values for one group in accordance with the relationship to provide calculated values, and comparing the image values for another group with the calculated values. If the image and calculated values are not identical, a warning signal is generated.

  • Patent number: 6105684
Abstract: The present invention relates to improvements in the operation and construction of roof bolters or roof bolt installation apparatus. The improvements comprise a roof bolter constructed so that the critical moving parts of its timber jack, feed frame, feed carrier and rotational unit are comprised of a rod and sleeve construction. Such construction allowing the protection of surfaces. The construction also includes feature of a spaced apart rod and sleeve construction which allows motive power units to be housed within the confines of the timber jack and feed carrier. The spaced apart arrangement also provides stability to the roof bolter.
