Abstract: A Home Network and Multimode Modem are provided for coupling devices of different standards/protocols for transmitting/receiving data over the Home Network. The modem is configured to transmit/receive data in both a first mode and a second mode. The first mode provides a first standard/protocol for Home Networking for transmitting and/or receiving data between devices of the Home Network and the second mode provides a second standard/protocol for Home Networking for transmitting/receiving data between devices of the Home Network. A controller dynamically switches the modem between the first and second modes.

Abstract: Described herein are techniques related to a generation of a short identifier of a domain/network that is based upon the long human-readable network/domain name (NDN) that a user or admin typically gives to the network/domain. With one or more implementations described herein, the short network/domain identifier (DNI) is based upon a version of the long human-readable NDN that has been modified to remove any data that is superfluous to distinguishing the NDN for any other. Abstract: A system for displaying financial information includes a financial statement having a set of financial accounts, a set of business processes associated with the set of financial accounts, and an financial statement manager for displaying the financial statement and the associated set of business processes. The financial statement manager is further adapted to display the financial statement and the set of risks associated with the set of financial accounts, the financial statement and a set of risk controls associated with the set of financial accounts, and/or the financial statement and a set of sample transactions associated with the set of financial accounts. The financial statement manager is further adapted to import the financial statement, which can be encoded in XML format. The system includes a web server for displaying the financial statement and the associated set of business processes as a web page on a user's web browser.

If the writing implement includes a writing tip extension and retraction mechanism operated by an actuation button in the second end of the barrel, the page turning-element overlies the button so that the button is actuated through the page-turning element by an external pressure applied thereto. A biasing element between the page-turning element and the second end of the barrel assures that the pressure needed for actuation of the button is greater than that which is normally applied through use of the page-turning element, thereby minimizing the possibility of inadvertent actuation.
