  • Patent number: 6800794
Abstract: The invention concerns plants with improved resistance to certain stilbene-sensitive pathogenic agents, and more particularly a set of constructs combining a plant promoter inductible by biotic stress, generated in particular by said pathogens, and gene(s) coding f r a stilbene synthase.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 2, 2001
Date of Patent: October 5, 2004

  • Patent number: 6020129
Abstract: A stilbene synthase gene. More particularly, a stilbene synthase gene in which the stilbene synthase is resveratrol synthase. Also more particularly a stilbene synthase gene which is obtained from groundnut (Arachis hypogaea). Furthermore a stilbene synthase gene, corresponding to the stilbene synthase gene which is contained in the plasmid pGS 828.1, and DNA sequences acting in essentially the same say. Still further, a stilbene synthase gene unit which comprises approximately 6,700 base pairs and exhibits 3 EcoRI, 3 HindIII and 1 PstI cleavage sites, and which can be obtained by partial cleavage of the plasmid PGS 828.1 using EcoRI and HindIII, or from plasmid pGS 828.1 using SstI and PvuII.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 28, 1997
Date of Patent: February 1, 2000
    Assignee: Bayer Aktiengesellschaft

  • Patent number: 5973135
Abstract: The present invention relates to novel, recombinant deoxyribonucleic acids (DNA), to vectors and host organisms which contain them, and to transgenic plants which contain the recombinant DNA and possess an elevated resistance toward pernicious organisms and plant diseases, where the recombinant deoxyribonucleic acids (DNA) are characterized in that they consist of a combination of the following components, or components possessing a DNA which in each case has the same effect, or contain these constituents:(a) a double-stranded cDNA fragment which is derived from the RNA of the plum pox virus (PPV) ("fragment A"), and(b) a double-stranded cDNA fragment which is derived from the S RNA of the tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV) ("fragment B"), it being possible for these combinations also to possess, in addition to further DNA fragments which may optionally be present, a promoter which is active in plant cells.
