  • Patent number: 11938709
Abstract: The present disclosure includes a process for making a package having a spout. The process includes heating a sealing area of a spout to a temperature at or above a melting point of the spout material; heating two multilayer structures around a portion of their peripheries to adhere the peripheries of sealant layers and form a partially sealed package having an opening; inserting the heated spout into the opening; and pressing opposing surfaces of the two multilayer structures around the spout to close the opening around the spout. Each multilayer structure includes a multilayer film having the sealant layer having at least 40% by weight of an ethylene-based polymer having a melting point below 112 C; an external layer including an ethylene-based polymer; and at least one intermediate layer disposed between the sealant layer and the external layer having a melting point at least 15 C higher than the sealant layer.

  • Publication number: 20230147444
Abstract: The present disclosure provides for a multilayer film having a sealant layer and a first layer, where the first layer is formed from a first polyolefin composition, and a laminate that includes the multilayer film. The first polyolefin composition of the first layer consists essentially of a high density polyethylene (HDPE) resin and a propylene-ethylene copolymer thermoplastic elastomer (TPE). In addition to the first layer of the first polyolefin composition and the sealant layer, the laminate also includes a substrate film and an adhesive layer comprising polyurethane in adhering contact with the substrate film and the first layer, where when the adhesive layer is formed from a solvent-free adhesive the adhesive layer has an elastic modulus of greater than 25 MPa, and when the adhesive layer is formed from a solvent-based adhesive the adhesive layer has an elastic modulus of greater than 0.30 MPa, the elastic modulus being measured for the polyurethane in accordance with ASTM D412.

  • Publication number: 20220274353
Abstract: A method for molding shaped silicone elastomeric articles from room temperature curable silicone compositions, which are practically not suited to being processed using extrusion techniques, is provided. The method enables the room temperature curable silicone composition to cure in a predefined shape (6) into which it is introduced to form a shaped silicone elastomeric article. The articles may be, for the sake of example, suitable for use as spacers for insulating glass units (IGUs).
