  • Publication number: 20230338718
Abstract: The swallowable capsule device (10) comprises a capsule housing (12), a drug outlet (14) arranged relative to the capsule housing (12), a drug reservoir (16) configured to accommodate a drug substance (23) in use, and a needleless jet injector assembly. The needleless jet injector assembly includes a jet injector (22) and an actuator. The jet injector (22) has a plurality of jet nozzles (24) and the actuator is configured to actuate under predetermined conditions to expel the drug substance (23) in use from the drug reservoir out through the drug outlet (14) via the jet nozzles (24) to form a jet stream. Each jet nozzle (24) is configured to expel a separate collimated jet stream (28) having a peak jetting power of 1 W or below, and the plurality of jet nozzles (24) are arranged in a cluster so that the separate collimated jet streams (24) in combination form a contiguous jet stream (20) that is configured to be expelled towards the lumen wall.

  • Publication number: 20230330402
Abstract: A capsule device (10) suitable for swallowing into a lumen of an intestinal tract of a patient comprises a housing section (12), a delivery outlet (20) for jet injection by a delivery assembly (22), an expansion assembly (26) and an expansion control mechanism (30). The expansion section (28) is arranged laterally opposite to and physically separated from the delivery outlet (20). An expansion section (28) of the expansion assembly (26) is laterally expandable from a non-expanded configuration to an expanded configuration for positioning the delivery outlet (20) against the lumen wall (14). The expansion control mechanism (30) is configured to activate the expansion assembly (26) under a predetermined condition to permit change of the expansion section (28) from the non-expanded configuration to the expanded configuration.

  • Publication number: 20230050912
Abstract: Self-righting articles, such as self-righting capsules for administration to a subject, are generally provided. In some embodiments, the self-righting article may be configured such that the article may orient itself relative to a surface (e.g., a surface of a tissue of a subject). The self-righting articles described herein may comprise one or more tissue engaging surfaces configured to engage (e.g., interface with, inject into, anchor) with a surface (e.g., a surface of a tissue of a subject). In some embodiments, the self-righting article may have a particular shape and/or distribution of density (or mass) which, for example, enables the self-righting behavior of the article. In some embodiments, the self-righting article may comprise a tissue interfacing component and/or a pharmaceutical agent (e.g., for delivery of the active pharmaceutical agent to a location internal of the subject).
