  • Patent number: 7542424
Abstract: Transmission resources of one or more individual transmission links, especially of individual transmission bottlenecks, are managed by a resource manager. In the course of a setting up of a connection, the resource manager determines, by using an item of connection information, the origin and destination of the connection to be set up, and identifies whether this connection is routed over a particular transmission link. Based on the result of the determination, a message is subsequently generated and transmitted to the origin of the connection. A selection of transmission resources to be used for the connection is then carried out based on the transmitted message.

  • Patent number: 7415520
Abstract: A method establishes a connection between a source network with a source network resource manager and a target network with a target network resource manager. According to the method, a connection control unit of the source network transmits a connection establishment signal to a connection control unit of the target network and—parallel to this—a reservation request to the target network resource manager. The target network resource reserves the requested resources and forwards the reservation request towards the target network resource manager, which also reserves the requested resources and transmits reservation information regarding the success of the resource reservations to the connection control unit of the target network.

  • Patent number: 7327677
Abstract: Transmission resources are controlled in individual transmission paths in a packet-oriented communication network, whereby data-packet address information which identifies the origin and the goal of the data packets, is transmitted to a resource manager, responsible for a transmission path, from a network transmission device. On a resource request, for a connection to be subsequently generated, the origin and goal thereof are compared with the origin and goal of the previously transmitted data packets by the resource manager. Should there be agreement, the resource manager can deduce that the connection to be established can equally run over the corresponding transmission path. Correspondingly, establishment of further connections occurs, depending upon the available resources of the transmission path.

  • Patent number: 7139386
Abstract: Features available in one communication installation of a communication system are made available system-wide by transmitting an item of feature control information for a subscriber line of a first communication installation to a second communication installation. The item of feature control information is converted into at least one function call, whose associated function is provided by a computer telephony integration (CTI) interface. The function call is transmitted via the CTI interface to the first communication installation. At least one feature control instruction contained in the function call is executed by an administration and maintenance device of the first communication installation. The first communication installation depicts a controlled instance with regard to a feature control, while the second communication installation depicts a controlling instance.

  • Patent number: 7126919
Abstract: Quality of service is assured for connections routed via a plurality of subregions of a packet-oriented network via connection paths having prescribed transmission system resources by a resource manager in the packet-oriented network which has access to associated information relating to address ranges of the subregions, routes from source subregions to destination subregions through other subregions, and prescribed transmission system resources between the subregions. When a connection is initialized, a requested scope of resources and source and destination addresses are signaled to the resource manager, and a route through the network is ascertained. Then, taking into account the requested scope of resources and the scope of resources between the subregions of the route, a check is carried out to determine whether the initialized connection is authorized. In addition, the transmission system resources may be reserved for the initialized connection in the subregions included in the ascertained route.

  • Publication number: 20040109413
Abstract: The invention relates to the control of transmission resources in individual transmission paths in a packet-oriented communication network, whereby data-packet address information (A1, A2) which identifies the origin and the goal of the data packets (DP1, DP2), is transmitted to a resource manager (RM), responsible for a transmission path (US), from a network transmission device (R1, R2). On a resource request (RA), for a connection to be subsequently generated, the origin and goal thereof are compared with the origin and goal of the previously transmitted data packets (DP1, DP2) by the resource manager (RM). Should there be agreement, the resource manager (RM) can deduce that the connection to be established can equally run over the corresponding transmission path (US). Correspondingly, establishment of further connections occurs, depending upon the available resources of said transmission path (US).

  • Publication number: 20030163572
Abstract: If, when the gatekeeper GKZ checks the resource reservation, the reservation has not yet been made in the destination network resource manager RMZ, the check may be repeated, if necessary, a number times, by transmitting further reservation request messages RF. Furthermore, a time interval can be pre-set, during which the gatekeeper GKZ waits for a reservation acknowledgement message RB to arrive. If no reservation acknowledgement message RB has been transmitted from the destination network resource manager RMZ to the gatekeeper GKZ for the connection to be set up, after repeated checking and/or after the pre-set time interval has elapsed, the gatekeeper GKZ ends the process of setting up this connection.
