  • Patent number: 10788795
Abstract: An elapsed time indicator comprises a reservoir of a fluid, a porous sheet element and a fluid port located between the reservoir and the porous sheet element. The porous sheet element defines a predetermined area which is separated from the fluid port by a predetermined lateral distance. The fluid is selectively provided from the reservoir to the porous sheet element through the fluid port whereupon the porous sheet element transmits the fluid laterally through the porous sheet element at a predetermined rate away from the fluid port until the fluid impregnates the predetermined area of the porous sheet element so as to cause the predetermined area of the porous sheet element to become transparent or more transparent after expiry of a predetermined time period.

  • Publication number: 20180373205
Abstract: An elapsed time indicator comprises a porous element, an electrical source, and an electronic controller. The electronic controller is configured to receive electrical power from the electrical source and cause a fluid to be received by the porous element in response to expiry of a predetermined time period. The predetermined time period may be associated with an item such as a perishable item with which the elapsed time indicator is to be associated or to which the elapsed time indicator is to be attached. The predetermined time period may comprise a lifetime or a shelf-life of the item or a predetermined proportion of a lifetime or a shelf-life of the item.

  • Patent number: 10153058
Abstract: To predict which Hepatitis C patients are at high-risk for disease progression or adverse health outcomes, baseline characteristics are measured for patients as well as longitudinal data, including clinical, laboratory and/or biopsy results, which may be collected periodically in follow-up visits with a healthcare professional. A machine learning engine may predict whether a patient is at high-risk for disease progression or adverse health outcomes based on the baseline characteristics and the longitudinal data for the patient.

  • Patent number: 9936970
Abstract: The present invention is directed in various methods, devices and systems relating to rotational atherectomy. More specifically, an oscillating driver is connected to a drive shaft, or torque transfer tube, with abrasive element mounted thereon. The result provides a rotational working diameter for the rotating abrasive element that is larger than its resting diameter. Generally, the preferred abrasive element is concentric in profile and/or with center of mass collinear with the drive shaft's rotational axis. However, eccentric abrasive elements, both in terms of offsetting center of mass and/or geometric eccentricity may also be employed.

  • Patent number: 7372826
Abstract: Advanced communications features are provided in a mobile communications network having at least one mobile switching center and at least one mobile station subsystem. The mobile switching center and mobile station subsystem each communicate signaling messages according to a mobile signaling protocol. An indication is received that a half-duplex mobile communications session is to be initiated between a first mobile station subsystem and a second mobile station subsystem. The first and second mobile station subsystems include full-duplex communications apparatus for use in full-duplex mobile communications sessions. The half-duplex mobile communications session relies on the first and second mobile station subsystems, and all of the reliance is only on the full-duplex communications apparatus. Mobile communications telephone calls are established with the first mobile station subsystem and the second mobile station subsystem.

  • Patent number: 6909717
Abstract: The real time Ethernet protocol (RTEP) of the present invention offers improved speed and performance for an Ethernet network, while simultaneously enhancing the Ethernet's communication functionality. The RTEP provides a data frame, within the standard Ethernet protocol frame, containing information to support network functionality ordinarily associated with higher level protocol layers. The RTEP can guarantee delivery of messages as well as correct message sequence. The RTEP also supports IP subnetting, message piggybacking, Ethernet network sharing, and dynamic replacement of Ethernet stations. The present invention has particular application in conducting communications between one or more hosts and a telecommunications switching system.
