  • Publication number: 20060076188
Abstract: A ladder guard (10) for use with a ladder (8) having a plurality of rungs (8a-8f). The ladder guard has a first position, in which respective portions (21-23) of the ladder guard are located in front of a number of the rungs (8b-8d) to prevent access to the rungs. The ladder guard has a second position, in which the portions (21-23) of the ladder guard are located behind rungs of the ladder to allow access to the rungs of the number of rungs. The ladder guard includes a support (12) for supporting the ladder guard on a ladder for movement from the first to the second position by lifting the portions of the ladder guard up and over the rungs of the number of rungs. The ladder guard further includes means to releasably lock the ladder guard in the first position.

  • Publication number: 20060032185
Abstract: The invention relates to a device 10 for stabilising ladders 60 that bridge a floor 70 and an elevated structure, such as an elevated floor 70 in a multi-storey construction. The device 70 includes a body that is fixable to the elevated structure and an arm 50 extending from the body. The arm 50 has a tab 52 which engages a beam 64 of the ladder 60 when the ladder 60 is abutting an edge 40 of the body. In this arrangement, outward sliding movement of a heel of the ladder is prevented and thus the ladder 60 is stabilised.

  • Patent number: 5836241
Abstract: A heat transfer system in which a continuous web of material (13, 14) is carried past a hot plate surface (12) with one face of the web in contact therewith, and a series of fluid-filled vessels (15) above the web to apply a load on the upper surface thereof to maintain uniform contact between the web and the hot plate surface irrespective of any undulation thereof. A transport section to convey the web past the hot plate surface comprises upper and lower traction belts (16, 17) disposed entirely beyond the end of the hot plate surface (12) with a fixed plate (18) beneath the lower belt (17) and a series of fluid-filled vessels (19) above the upper belt (16) which serve to maintain adequate drive contact between the belts (16, 17) and the web (13, 14).
