  • Patent number: 6939624
Abstract: Emissive phosphorescent organometallic compounds are described that produce improved electroluminescence, particularly in the blue region of the visible spectrum. Organic light emitting devices employing such emissive phosphorescent organometallic compounds are also described. Also described is an organic light emitting layer including a host material having a lowest triplet excited state having a decay rate of less than about 1 per second; a guest material dispersed in the host material, the guest material having a lowest triplet excited state having a radiative decay rate of greater than about 1×105 or about 1×106 per second and wherein the energy level of the lowest triplet excited state of the host material is lower than the energy level of the lowest triplet excited state of the guest material.

  • Patent number: 6916554
Abstract: An organic light emitting device is provided. The device has an anode, a cathode, and an emissive layer disposed between the anode and the cathode. The emissive layer further comprises an emissive material having the structure: M may be a metal having an atomic weight greater than 40. R3 may be a substituent having a Hammett value less than about ?0.17, between about ?0.15 and 0.05, or greater than about 0.07. R5 may be H or any substituent. A may be a 5 or 6 member heteroaryl ring system. “m” may be at least 1. “n” may be at least zero. (X-Y) may be an ancillary ligand. The emissive material itself is also provided. The emissive material may have improved stability, and may provide a saturated blue emission.

  • Publication number: 20040048101
Abstract: The present invention relates to organic light emitting devices (OLEDs), and more specifically to efficient OLEDs having electron blocking layers. The devices of the present invention comprise at least one electron blocking layer which functions to confine electrons to specific regions of the light emitting devices. The present invention also relates to materials for use as electron blockers that show increased stability when incorporated into an organic light emitting device.

  • Patent number: 4602050
Abstract: A method for cross-linking organopolysilane polymers. The method includes the steps of mixing an organopolysilane with a cross-linking agent to make a reaction mixture. The cross-linking agent includes molecules having at least two carbon-carbon double bonds and a ratio of such bonds to the molecular weight of the molecule of at least 1:150. Radical formation is then induced in the organopolysilane of the reaction mixture to cause formation of a reaction product including cross-linked organopolysilane polymers.
