  • Publication number: 20140321115
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for producing mixed light in a direct-view luminaire. The luminaire includes a plurality of light sources (132) that, in combination, are configured to generate a plurality of different colors of light, a first light mixing chamber (110) and at least one second light mixing chamber (120) in light communication with the first mixing chamber through at least one opening (134). At least one directly viewable light exit surface (112) is coupled to the first light mixing chamber. The light sources are contained in the second light mixing chamber(s), which is configured to prevent light emitted from the light sources from directly impinging on the light exit surface(s). The first light mixing chamber and the light exit surface(s) are configured to mix the light emitted from the light sources such that all light exiting the light exit surface(s) is substantially uniform in brightness and color.

  • Publication number: 20090205275
Abstract: Support structure for elevated floor assembly including a plurality of pedestals and panel stringers coupled between adjacent pedestals, each pedestal having a column with a supporting head on an upper end of the column and a base plate on the lower end of the column, the supporting head having radially protruding supporting arms for connecting the panel stringers thereto, and each panel stringer having a generally inverted U-shaped cross-section with two generally parallel side portions and an interconnecting portion, wherein the interconnecting portion Wrests on the radially protruding supporting arm of the supporting head of the pedestal.

  • Publication number: 20030099645
Abstract: Human and animal serum contains naturally occurring autoantibodies that develop at birth in absence of deliberate immunization. These antibodies are predominantly of IgM isotype but can include all immunoglobulin isotypes such as IgD, IgA and IgG. Here we describe IgM anti-lymphocyte autoantibodies and show that these antibodies are heterogenous with some antibodies binding to chemokine receptors such as CCR5 and CXCR4 and others binding to other T cell receptors including CD3. IgM antibodies inhibit HIV-1 from infecting cells, inhibit chemokine from binding to receptors and inhibit activation and proliferation of T lymphocytes. IgM antibodies that bind to lymphocyte also bind to other leucocytes and other cells such as cancer cells and endothelial cells.

  • Patent number: 4945748
Abstract: Apparatus for making tapered four-sided sheet metal containers comprises a tapered four-sided mould 42 and a folding mechanism 26.1 for folding a sheet metal blank onto the mould. The folding mechanism comprises a carrier 28 and four folding elements 30, 32 pivotally mounted on the carrier. When the mould and the folding mechanism is displaced towards one another with the sheet metal blank 10 disposed between them, the folding elements pivot about their pivotal mountings and fold peripheral portions of the blank onto the sides of the mould.

  • Patent number: 4229255
Abstract: A fuel bundle positioning and ejecting apparatus comprising two piston members, one slidable along a stem on the other piston member, and a compression spring urging the pistons apart, is secured in a horizontally extending fuel channel upstream of the coolant flow therealong. The downstream one of the piston members has a shield plug attached thereto and the piston members are urged together in a fuel channel with he compression spring compressed, by a series of fuel element bundles along the fuel channel. When the downstream end of the fuel channel is opened using a fuelling machine, with pressurized coolant therein and continued circulation of coolant along the fuel channel, the compression spring expands causing the piston members to become entrained in the coolant and urge the fuel element bundles out of the fuel channel and into the fuelling machine.
