Patent number: 11562356Abstract: A computer-based method for communicating liability acceptance for payment card transactions is provided. The method uses a computer device including a processor and a memory. The method includes receiving, by the processor, a transaction authorization request message for a payment card transaction having a default-liable party. The transaction authorization request message includes a shifted-liability acceptance indicator identifying a different party to the transaction that accepts liability for the payment card transaction. The method also includes authorizing the payment card transaction based at least in part on the shifted-liability acceptance indicator. The shifted-liability acceptance indicator changes the liability for the payment card transaction from the default-liable party to the different party accepting liability.Type: GrantFiled: November 25, 2019Date of Patent: January 24, 2023Assignee: MASTERCARD INTERNATIONAL INCORPORATEDInventors: Theunis J. Publication number: 20220366407Abstract: The present disclosure provides a description of systems and methods for verifying product authenticity at a point of sale through transaction messages. A point of sale may collect product identifiers from products that a consumer is interested in purchase as part of a traditional checkout process. Product identifiers can be included in special data elements in a transaction message that is submitted to a merchant's acquiring bank through for the payment transaction. As part of the processing of the transaction by the acquirer, the acquirer can consult a processor to check the authenticity of the products being purchased by examining a provenance blockchain for the product identifiers included in the transaction message. If the products are determined to be authentic, the transaction can proceed as normal. If the products are not authentic, then the acquirer can deny the transaction and stop the consumer from purchasing a counterfeit or fraudulent good.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 13, 2021Publication date: November 17, 2022Applicant: MASTERCARD INTERNATIONAL INCORPORATEDInventors: Robert COLLINS, Steven C. Patent number: 10891622Abstract: Methods and systems for providing cardholder authentication services on-behalf-of (OBO) issuers utilizing a payment card authorization network to bridge cardholder authentication and transaction authorization processes. In some embodiments, the process includes an OBO issuer service computer receiving an authentication message, storing the authentication message in a transaction database and then receiving a purchase transaction authorization request message from a payment network. The OBO issuer service computer then determines that an authentication value of the received purchase transaction authorization request message matches the authentication value of the stored authentication message, stores a record of the match, and transmits the purchase transaction authorization request to the payment network for purchase authorization processing.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 2015Date of Patent: January 12, 2021Assignee: Mastercard International IncorporatedInventors: Peter J. Patent number: 10699354Abstract: Methods and systems for processing booking transactions are provided. A server received a transaction request to book an asset for a time period. The transaction request comprises a token identifier assigned to the asset and data identifying the time period. The server then identifies token data associated with the asset based on the token identifier and determines availability of the asset during the time period based on the token data. If the asset is available for the duration of the time period, the server maps the token identifier to an account identifier and sends a request to credit an account identified by the account identifier to a server of an issuer of the account.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 2016Date of Patent: June 30, 2020Assignee: MASTERCARD INTERNATIONAL INCORPORATEDInventors: Peter J.
