  • Patent number: 4281524
Abstract: A cable lock for one end of a barrier cable of the type suspended between a pair of spaced upstanding supports, wherein one end of the cable is permanently secured to one support and the other end is detachably secured to the second support. The second support is cut away at its top end to define a step, and a main lock body is secured to the vertical wall of the step, spaced above the horizontal wall of said step. A metal plate is secured to the vertical wall between the lock body and said vertical wall. The plate has an opening registering with the cable bore of the second support. The lock body has an enlarged recess defining an inside top shoulder at the plate. The cable has an enlarged ferrule receivable in the recess via the cable bore and the registering opening of the plate. The ferrule is clamped in an elevated position in the recess to lockingly interengage with said inside shoulder by a vertical Acme-treaded clamping Allen screw in the lock body.

  • Patent number: 4240278
Abstract: A locking mechanism for a horizontally swinging gate bar, for locking the end of the bar to a vertical post. The vertical post has a cap member threadedly mounted eccentrically thereon, said cap member having a cavity to receive the end of the gate bar. The cap member contains a locked linkage, one of whose links includes a locking projection engaging in a slot in the post, whereby to lock the cap member in a non-rotatably held condition lockingly receiving the end of the gate bar. The linkage includes pivotal connections formed by the shackles of padlocks. By removing at least one of the padlocks the linkage can be disconnected to allow withdrawal of the locking projection from the post slot, to thereby allow the cap member to be rotated sufficiently to enable the end of the gate bar to be swung out of the locking cavity. A stop member depending from the floor of the cavity cooperates with a horizontal lug in the post to prevent unscrewing of the cap member from the post.

  • Patent number: 3990182
Abstract: A cable is suspended across a private road or driveway, primarily in rural areas, between two trees or posts for entrance security. The cable is anchored in one post in a permanent manner at a first end, while the second end of the cable carries a fitting through which a padlock can be passed. This second end of the cable with the fitting is threaded through a hole in the second tree or post and through a hole in a plate of a padlock protector which is nailed in place on the far side of the second tree or post through which the fitting at the end of the cable has been threaded. The padlock protector constitutes an angulated section cut from a heavy gauge steel pipe.
