Abstract: An exemplary embodiment of a flow control valve having a secondary flow metering feature includes a rotating component which provides a primary flow control function. The rotating component rotates about an axis, and can be used to open or close the valve, typically with a 90 degree rotation of the rotating component by a handle or actuator. The valve includes a secondary flow metering function, by selectively varying the cross-sectional flow passage area through the rotating component. The rotating element may be a spherical ball, a non-spherical ball, or other component configuration which rotates about an axis, such as a conical configuration.
