Patent number: 9907227Abstract: A gear box assembly for a twin rotor combine is provided. The gear box assembly includes a two speed gear box having a casing, an input shaft, an output shaft, and a two speed gear assembly housed within the casing and operatively connected between the input shaft and the output shaft. The gear box assembly also includes a splitter gear box operatively connected to the output shaft. The splitter gear box includes a housing, and a splitter gear assembly housed within the housing and configured to split a torque provided by the output shaft between a first output shaft and a second output shaft extending from the housing in a direction opposite a direction the output shaft extends from the two speed gear box. The two speed gear box is pivotable relative to the splitter gear box housing.Type: GrantFiled: February 4, 2016Date of Patent: March 6, 2018Assignee: CNH Industrial America LLCInventors: Bharat Hadwani, Peter J. Patent number: 9545051Abstract: A slot driven low profile sickle drive has an input rotatable about an upstanding rotational axis and carries an eccentric captured in a slot in one end of a pivot arm pivotable about an upstanding pivotal axis. A power source is connected in rotatably driving relation to the input. The opposite end of the pivot arm connects to a knife assembly of a sickle. The input, eccentric and pivot arm are generally flat, and the power source is vertically coextensive therewith for incorporation in or below the floor of a header of a plant cutting machine. Rotation of the input causes epicyclical orbiting of the eccentric, resulting in sideward pivoting of the opposite end of the pivot arm and sickle knife. A second drive can oppositely drive a second sickle knife, such that opposite forces generated by operation of the drives will be largely canceled.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 2012Date of Patent: January 17, 2017Assignee: CNH Industrial America LLCInventors: Joel T. Cook, Gary L. Bich, David M. DeChristopher, Peter J. Ungs

Patent number: 6929574Abstract: A two speed shift mechanism for a belt drive that includes a rotatable shaft with a first pulley, and a tube concentric with the shaft and rotatable therearound. The tube includes a shift hub supporting a second pushy in axially spaced relation to the first pulley for concentric rotation about the shift hub. The mechanism further includes a collar mounted around the shift hub for rotation therewith and for axial movement between a position adjacent the first pulley and a position adjacent the second pulley. In a first position, the collar and the first pulley include elements engageable for connecting the collar to the first pulley for rotation of the collar, the shift hub, and the tube. In a second position, the collar and the second pulley include elements engageable for connecting the collar to the second pulley for rotation of the collar, the shift hub, and the tube.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 2004Date of Patent: August 16, 2005Assignee: CNH America LLCInventors: Nicholas J. Laufenberg, Peter J. Ungs
