  • Patent number: 9002736
Abstract: The present invention is an applications gateway that offers multiple functions and features for specific geographic venue locations, while providing easy access to advertising, purchasing, and redemption opportunities for that specific geographic venue location. Venue locations can be stadiums, shopping malls, amusement parks, open air spaces where people can congregate, and/or buildings, which most often require the presence of a concentration of people. The venue location may correlate to the location of the hand-held mobile unit or it may be a remote geographic venue location not near the location of the hand-held mobile unit. Access to the gateway application is through a hand-held mobile unit, which can include a mobile phone, smartphone device, or portable computer having a wireless radio transmission connection. (e.g. iPhone, Droid, iPad, Slate, etc.).

  • Patent number: 7710891
Abstract: A concentrator multiplexes network data from different links in a network and carried on a plurality of lower speed lines into multiplexed network data carried on a higher speed line. A line interface module demultiplexes the multiplexed network data carried on the higher speed line, assembles the demultiplexed network data into cells, and reassembles cells into packets for analysis. A single distributed network analyzer analyzes the reassembled network data.

  • Patent number: 7548515
Abstract: An apparatus to actively monitor a network having a plurality of twisted-pair communication links. The apparatus includes a plurality of amplifiers corresponding, respectively, to the plurality of twisted-pair communication links, each amplifier having a sufficiently high input impedance and common-mode voltage tolerance to non-intrusively copy a data signal transmitted through a corresponding twisted-pair communication link and amplify the copied data signal. The apparatus further includes a plurality of isolation transformers corresponding, respectively, to the plurality of amplifiers, each isolation transformer receiving the amplified, copied data signal from the corresponding amplifier, and outputting a transformed data signal, and a connector receiving the transformed data signals from the plurality of isolation transformers in a pin order corresponding to the plurality of twisted-pair communication links.

  • Patent number: 6763000
Abstract: The inventive mechanism monitors ATM traffic load by service type. The inventive mechanism receives each cell being transported over a backbone or link of an ATM network. The mechanism creates a table, which includes the VPI/VCI tags and the respective service type for each tag, to determine the numbers of cells being transported for each of the service types. The mechanism forms the table by monitoring connection/call setup-request cells and their associated answer cells, which identify the service type for each VPI/VCI tag. The inventive mechanism may set alarm levels to trigger based upon the pipe bandwidth usage by the different service types.

  • Patent number: 6061159
Abstract: Disclosed is a mixed fiber adapter cable, which is capable of performing direct data transfers from a multi-mode transceiver of a first FDDI node and a single-mode transceiver of a second FDDI node. The mixed fiber adapter cable comprises a multi-mode graded index optical fiber and a single-mode step index optical fiber. The multi-mode graded index fiber conducts an optical signal from an LED source of a multi-mode FDDI connector/transceiver combination to a photodetector receiver of a single-mode connector/transceiver. Conversely, the single-mode step index fiber conducts an optical signal from a laser source of a single-mode FDDI connector/transceiver combination to a photodetector receiver of the multi-mode connector/transceiver at the other end. This adapter cable is possible because the photodetectors of both the single-mode transceiver and the multi-mode transceiver accept optical input from either source with corresponding fiber type.

  • Patent number: 5825516
Abstract: An optical power meter for a fiber optic link includes a photodetector that generates a current proportional to the energy of the light transmission in the fiber optic, a current-to-voltage converter that converts the current to a proportional voltage, and a voltage-to-frequency converter that converts the voltage to a digital pulse train proportional to the amplitude of the voltage. The digital pulse train increments a counter, which is read periodically by a microprocessor. The value read by the microprocessor corresponds to the average power in the light transmission. This digital value is converted to a power value in dBm and stored on a mass storage device and displayed on a liquid crystal display. The liquid crystal display shows the power level over time so that losses due to intrinsic and extrinsic loss factors can be quickly and easily identified. The power meter also includes software executed by the microprocessor that allows the user to input a range within which the power can fluctuate.

  • Patent number: 5365509
Abstract: Disclosed is a system that monitors the signal strength of each transmission by a node on a LAN cable of a local area network and determines the location of the node sending the signal. This system has a monitor at each end of the LAN cable, with one of the monitors typically being located in a computer node attached to the cable. When an information frame is sent on the cable, each of the monitors records the signal strength of the frame preamble and the source address contained within the frame. The distance to the node from a first end of the cable is calculated based on the signal strengths. A LAN collision trap circuit transmits a pseudo frame signal, of maximum length, periodically and monitors any collision or jam signals that occur during the pseudo frame. If a collision or jam is detected, a collision/jam information bit and the signal strength and time of the collision or jam, relative to the beginning of the pseudo frame, is recorded in a FIFO.

  • Patent number: 4816714
Abstract: A surface for reflecting light energy of a first frequency range while transmitting light energy of a second frequency range and an incandescent lamp employing such a surface utilizes an array of corner cube elements. Each element has three sides which are mutually perpendicular and meet at a common vertex. Each side of each element is a surface in the shape of a square. All edges of the three square sides have equal dimensions. The array of elements is arranged with each element except for extreme outer elements having all of its edges contiguous with corresponding edges of other elements so as to form a continuous surface of the elements such that the projection of outer edges of each element on a common plane through corners of each side diagonally opposite to the vertex of that element form a hexagon. At least one surface of each element being dichroic to allow transmission of light energy of the second frequency range while reflecting light energy of the first frequency range.

  • Patent number: 4728848
Abstract: An incandescent lamp of the reflector type has an exit window on which a filter coating is located. The filter coating reflects infrared radiation and transmits visible radiation. The clamp also has a reflector which is opposed to the filter coating and which reflects both infrared and visible radiation. The filter coating and the reflector have surfaces which are parabolic, confocal, and orthogonal. The filament passes through the focus and is elongated along the focal axis of the lamp. Infrared radiation emitted by the filament from the focus is reflectd back to it after two reflections, of which one reflection will be off the filter coating and of which the other will be off the reflector. A large part of the light produced by the lamp is collimated.
