  • Patent number: 6285346
Abstract: In a scrolling color projection system for displaying images represented by continuously updated frames of information, eg., video images, and employing a single, reflective electro-optic light modulator such as an AMLCD, flicker in the image caused by asymmetric electrical behavior of the light modulator is reduced without substantially reducing the brightness of the display, by addressing the modulator array at least twice during each frame period.

  • Patent number: 5982892
Abstract: A system and method for controlling unauthorized access to software distributed to a user by a vendor in which a verification key is generated by a product key generator and either embedded in the software prior to distribution or packaged with the software as a self-installing package. The verification key includes a private signing key and a public verification key. The combination of the software and the verification key create distributable software which is distributed to a user. The user installs the software on a user computer system as protected software. To obtain a user key, the user inputs user identifying information which is sent to a user key generator. The user key generator converts the user identifying information to a numeric representation and then generates, by signing the numeric representation with the private signing key, a user key, which is returned to the user.

  • Patent number: 5508738
Abstract: A color projection video system utilizing only a single light valve. A white light source is separated into into red, green and blue bands. Scanning optics cause the RGB bands to be sequentially scanned across a light valve, such as a transmission LCD panel. Prior to each color passing over a given row of panels on the light valve, that row will be addressed, by the display electronics with the appropriate color content of that portion of the image which is being displayed. The image is projected by a projection lens onto a viewing surface, such as a screen. The device includes circuitry to synchronize the illumination of the light valve with the video signal and to minimize video breakup when changing video sources.

  • Patent number: 5314096
Abstract: A dual purpose pump for pressure vessels comprises a piston pump disposed within a pump cylinder. The piston pump is arranged in the interior of the pressure vessel and actuatable from the outside by piston strokes for building up an increased pressure in the interior of the vessel. The pump cylinder is mounted on the vessel and projects into the interior thereof. The present invention simplifies mixing, e.g. the preparation of an emulsion, by rotatably mounting the pump cylinder about its longitudinal axis. To accomplish this, a drive mechanism may be mounted on he outside of the vessel for rotating the pump cylinder and the pump cylinder takes mixing elements along with it which project into and thereby mix the liquid during rotation.

  • Patent number: 5150103
Abstract: A fixture containing a compact rotational position sensor mounted directly to a driving contrivance for detecting movement of a member. The fixture comprises an attachment flange having a central bore with a front face for engagement with the driving contrivance. The front face has a recess proximate to the central bore and an opening from the outer surface of the attachment flange in communication with the recess. A control shaft passes through a central bore whereby the control end is attached to the member and the free end is attached to the driving contrivance. The sensor for detecting the rotational position of the control shaft is disposed in the recess whereby the attachment flange conceals the sensor when it is attached to the driving contrivance.
