  • Patent number: 9454883
Abstract: A device for the detection of an open and unattended closure of an enclosure to prevent theft comprises a detector adapted to detect if the closure is open and a detector adapted to detect if the closure is unattended, the detectors being operably connected to an effector adapted to alert a user to the open and unattended condition of the closure.

  • Publication number: 20150099966
Abstract: An anesthetic administration device comprising an infusion device, which is in fluid connection with a regional anesthetic needle by means of a feed tube. The infusion device comprises one or more anesthetic flow devices capable of triggering forward flow, and optionally backward flow, of the local anesthetic through the regional anesthetic needle. Forward, and optionally backward flow, of the local anesthetic through the regional anesthetic needle is controlled by a controller that comprises one or more actuator switches. The one or more actuator switches are positioned on the device such that they may be operated by hand.

  • Patent number: 8986262
Abstract: A sampling connector for use in sampling a body fluid such as arterial blood or cerebrospinal fluid. The sampling connector comprises at least two apertures in fluid communication via a fluid flow conduit and a one-way valve (14) disposed to allow fluid flow from the first aperture, through the fluid flow conduit and out of the second aperture, but not to allow fluid to flow into the second aperture and through the fluid flow conduit to the first aperture. In use, the sampling connector is connected to a body cavity to enable the sampling of a body fluid by withdrawal of the body fluid through the first aperture, and to prevent the introduction of a separate fluid to the body cavity. The first aperture can be within a male end and the second aperture can be within a female end or vice versa. A sampling device comprising a sampling connector according to the present invention and use of the sampling connector and/or sampling device is also claimed.

  • Publication number: 20090299339
Abstract: A connector system for connecting conduits for fluid flow there between comprises a first male connector and a first female connector, the connectors being releasably interengageable to form fluid-tight connection, the first male connector being adapted to connect the first female connector, but not to a standard female locking Luer connector, and the first female connector being adapted to connect to the first male connector and a standard male slip and/or locking Luer connector. The invention further relates to an epidural, intrathecal or intravenous apparatus including the connector system.

  • Publication number: 20090187166
Abstract: The invention relates to a male connector for use in a connector system for connecting conduits for fluid flow there between. The system comprises a male connector and a female connector and the connectors are releasably interengageable to form a fluid-tight connection. The male connector is adapted by a barrier (7), e.g. a disc, to connect only to a standard female slip Luer connector. The invention also relates to an infusion set including the male connector.

  • Patent number: 7360540
Abstract: The disclosed endotracheal tube includes a silicone tubular member that has a proximal end, a distal end, and a lumen extending through the member to supply air from the proximal end to the distal end. The tubular member defines a first zone and a second zone. At least a portion of the first zone has a first outer diameter. The second zone has a second outer diameter. The first outer diameter is less than the second outer diameter. The first and second zones are adjacent to one another and are configured for insertion into the trachea of a human patient. A silicone cuff is attached to the tubular member such that the cuff extends over at least a portion of the first zone. The silicone cuff is mounted such that when the cuff is inflated in a trachea, the cuff reaches its plateau pressure prior to circumferentially contacting the inner wall of the trachea so that an accurate pressure reading may be taken of the pressure the cuff exerts on an inner wall of the trachea.
