  • Publication number: 20060255226
Abstract: An assembly for suspending an object from a surface includes a down rod having a width, an upper end, and a lower end for engaging the object. A ball member is also provided. The ball member has a generally hemispherical body with a longitudinal axis and a bore extending through the body obliquely relative to the longitudinal axis. The ball member also has a diameter wherein the ball member is connected to the upper end of the down rod. A hanger bracket is also provided. The hanger bracket has an upper end for being mounted to the surface and a bottom end that defines a socket. The socket includes an opening through it that is smaller than the diameter of the ball member. The socket's opening defines a radius so that the ball is received in the socket such that the down rod extends through the opening.

  • Patent number: 7098845
Abstract: A receiver circuit including an oscillator, a mixer coupled to the oscillator, a switch coupled to an output of the mixer, and an envelope detector coupled to the oscillator, such that the envelope detector generates a timing signal for actuating the switch based on the envelope of a signal produced by the oscillator. In one exemplary embodiment, the receiver circuit may be used as part of a radar based sensor system.

  • Patent number: 6992529
Abstract: The invention is directed to a system for electromagnetic communications that includes a semiconductor die; at least one amplifier on the die to amplify an input signal and generate an output signal; and an active bias control component on the die for adjusting biasing of the amplifier so that the amplifier is operable in a plurality of frequency bands. In one embodiment, a PCS band and W-CDMA power amplifier may be integrated on the same power amplifier die, and different output power requirements may be addressed by the use of an Si DC-DC converter. Such a converter may provide efficiency enhancements to the overall system through the use of dynamic bias control under active power control situations from the network. In addition, the converter may be used in a voltage up-converter state that allows a W-CDMA optimized power amplifier to operate at PCS frequencies and output power levels.

  • Publication number: 20050269187
Abstract: A caterpillar traction apparatus (110), wherein two pairs of pulleys (122 & 123, 132 & 133) can be driven at different speeds, so that the linear member (40) being driven by the mechanism is subjected to either compression or extension forces.

  • Publication number: 20050256984
Abstract: The invention is directed to determining the link integrity using information in a industry standard connection protocol, such as the Peripheral Component Interconnect Express® industry standard system level bus interconnect protocol. One or more features required in the industry standard protocol are used to implement a loopback master and a loopback slave in an interface device (also referred to as an interface) and an external component or device. Using such features may consume less logic area and provide a robust environment for checking link integrity and capabilities.

  • Patent number: 6784758
Abstract: A wave device for supporting electromagnetic waves, the device including a first pair of inputs for setting up a first standing wave therebetween a second pair of inputs for setting up a second standing wave therebetween and positioned such that the input signal of each of the first and second pairs of inputs is unaffected by the other of the first and second pairs of inputs and an output positioned so as to receive power from both the first and second standing waves.

  • Publication number: 20020158706
Abstract: An antenna element comprises a housing (2) having a base (4) adapted for attachment to a vehicle windscreen. Antenna elements are provided on printed circuit boards (7a, 7b) and form a dipole, the elements defining an included angle (A) of approximately 140°. When mounted on the inside surface of a vehicle windscreen, an improved radiation pattern is exhibited compared with a planar antenna. A coaxial cable (13) having inner and outer conductors coupled to the boards (7a, 7b) at their apex is routed in spaced relation to the element (7a) connected to the inner conductor. In such a manner that currents tending to be induced in the outer conductor of the coaxial cable are cancelled as a result of the proximity of the cable (13) to the element (7a). This enables the coaxial cable to be matched to the impedance of the antenna without the need for a balun.

  • Patent number: 5987105
Abstract: A home appliance, such as a laundry washing machine or refrigerator including a buzzer designed to sound an alarm or provide an audible indication of a certain condition is disclosed. The appliance may transmit information (such as diagnostic or fault codes and appliance usage information) to a remote service center without the need for a physical connection to a telephone line. The buzzer may be controlled to produce audible tones in a predetermined format which can be transmitted from the appliance, through the air and down a telephone line through a telephone handset to the service center. The signal is recorded at the service center and the data extracted. The data is then analyzed to obtain the fault and/or usage information.
