  • Patent number: 7726624
Abstract: The invention provides improvements to an external vehicle mirror assembly. The pivot point is located at an outboard side of the mirror housing. The power pack is mounted at an inboard side of the mirror housing. The mirror case is molded with no obstructions in a recessed base for holding the mirror, and the pivotable socket is molded at one side of the mirror case. The mirror assembly is mounted to the vehicle through an improved mounting mechanism. Trim seals seal the mirror assembly to the vehicle with improved wind noise, moisture, and dust resistance, and fewer components.

  • Patent number: 7634873
Abstract: The present invention relates to a door assembly which has a lower door assembly and an upper door assembly, and the upper door assembly and a lower door assembly can be connected. In addition, the upper door assembly is at least partially made of composite materials. Thus, the upper door assembly can be completely constructed with composite materials or it can be constructed of a hybrid material which consists of composite materials and steel. Furthermore, the door assembly can have trim molding integrated into the upper door assembly during the molding process. In the alternative, the door assembly could have an upper door assembly where attachment areas are molded into the upper door assembly which will allow for trim molding to be easily attached to the upper door assembly.

  • Publication number: 20090303702
Abstract: A rechargeable lamp system (10) comprises a lamp unit (12) and a docking station (14) on which the lamp unit (12) may be placed for charging of a rechargeable battery (22) within the lamp unit. The base (18) of the lamp unit and the docking station are configured so that the lamp unit may be rotated on the docking station. Rotation of the lamp on the docking station is arranged to operate a reed switch (104) in the base (18) of the lamp unit for turning a light bulb (56) ON or OFF. The reed switch (104) is switched ON and OFF by one or more magnets (100) provided in the docking station (14). The docking station (14) defines an upstanding ring (130) in the centre of which are located positive (132) and negative (134) contacts. The base (18) of the lamp unit defines a aperture (136) which locates over the circular ring (130) so that the lamp unit may rotate on the docking station. A telescopic stem extends upwards from the base (18). The light bulb (56) is fitted at the top of the stem (50).

  • Publication number: 20090121378
Abstract: A method is provided for manufacturing an upper reveal that conforms to a curved portion of a window opening of a motor vehicle door frame. The upper reveal is formed from TPV and a carrier. The method includes the steps of: co-extruding the TPV with the carrier; curing the TPV to form the upper reveal; heating the upper reveal to a temperature greater than a heat deformation temperature of the TPV; and bending the upper reveal to conform to the curved portion of the window opening of the motor vehicle door frame.

  • Patent number: 5961719
Abstract: Method and apparatus are disclosed for growing diamond films on a non-diamond substrate, such as a silicon wafer. The substrate surface is subjected to nucleation by means of a microwave-generated plasma while applying an electrical bias to the substrate and while an electrode is positioned adjacent to but spaced from the substrate surface. After the nucleation step, crystalline diamond is deposited on the nucleated surface from a carbon-containing plasma.

  • Patent number: 5854495
Abstract: A structure is disclosed for growing semiconductor surfaces. A substrate such as a single crystal silicon substrate is treated by electrical biasing in the presence of a carbon-containing plasma to cause nucleation of the surface. By direct observation using atomic force microscopy (AFM), a nucleated surface consisting of a thin film of mutually parallel, quadrilateral carbon-containing platelets was seen to develop on the substrate. An optimum nucleated surface was determined to be substantially covered with such platelets whose slope relative to the substrate was less than 5.degree.. Such a surface can serve as a template for growing semiconductor films, particularly of diamond, of well defined structure.
