  • Publication number: 20150027185
Abstract: An apparatus for straightening metal strips, including a first, upper group and a second, lower group of straightening rollers arranged in each case immediately in succession in a strip running direction, and a group of individually controllable actuators arranged alongside one another in a transverse direction. An axial bending profile of at least a first of the straightening rollers is settable by the group of actuators. At least one second group of individually controllable actuators arranged alongside one another in the transverse direction is provided. An axial bending profile of the least a second of the straightening rollers, which is in particular different from the bending profile of the first bending roller, is settable by the second group of actuators.

  • Patent number: 8001820
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for lubricating and cooling rollers (3,4,5,6) and metal strips (2) on rolling in particular, on cold rolling of metal strips (2), wherein, on the inlet side (7a) a minimal amount of pure lubricant (9) without a high water content is continuously supplied in an online controlled manner with a controlled viscosity and lubricity depending on a number of process data measurements (23) by means of a physical computer model (22) and the equivalent process data measurements (23) from the outlet side (8a) are also used online by the physical computer model (22).

  • Patent number: 7472574
Abstract: A method of and a rolling mill stand for cold rolling of a metallic rolling stock (1), in particular rolling strip (1b) with nozzles for gaseous or liquid treatment media, with which the rolling stock (1) is displaced under a processing temperature through a roll gap (40) of a roll pair of upper working roll (2) and lower working roll (3) to undergo plastic deformation, and which permits in addition to a rolling stock surface improvement, the lubrication and surface protection of the rolling stock (1) and the rollers (2, 3) by a reduction in roll separating, with introduction of deep-chilled media, whereby deep chilled inert gas (41), ambient temperature inert gas (41a), lubricant emulsion (42), of admixed base oil, or oil-free, non-residue evaporating hydrocarbons are introduced against the sides (2a; 3a) of the working rollers (2, 3), and/or the rolling gap (40), and/or the rolling stock (1) in groups of jets from individual rows of nozzles (6a to 22b) for lubrication, cooling, and for inerting.

  • Patent number: 6023835
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for producing thin hot-rolled steel strip with a final thickness of <1 mm from strip-cast feedstock in sequential steps, including surface descaling a cast feedstock, rolling the feedstock in six passes in a tandem Steckel roll line, coiling and uncoiling the feedstock after its first and second passage through the tandem Steckel roll line in furnaces arranged on the entry and exit sides of the tandem Steckel roll line. After a third passage through the Steckel roll line, the feedstock is coiled up in an exit-side coiling device having two furnaces one atop the other, which serves as a storage device for the roughed strip. Simultaneously with the coiling of the first strip, a second strip is uncoiled from the storage device. The cropped front end of the second strip is welded to the cropped rear end of the already uncoiled roughed strip.

  • Patent number: 5957756
Abstract: A process for regrinding the rolls installed in hot-strip roll stands using rotating pot-shaped grinding tools which are movable in an oscillating manner parallel to the roll axis. The grinding tool is fastened to the end of a grinding shaft which is driven in rotation so as to be axially displaceable transversely to the roll, guided coaxially in a grinding sleeve and connected at its opposite end with a displacing drive supported directly at the housing. The contact pressing force of the grinding tools at the roll is applied by compressed air which is supplied to the displacing drives. The air pressure, which is preset corresponding to the desired contact pressing force, is changed within a narrow range until the torques of all grinding tools or of one of the grinding tools measured at the drive motors for the grinding tools which are driven in rotation are identical and constant.

  • Patent number: 5131134
Abstract: An apparatus for coiling strip, in particular, continuously cast thin slabs, which after leaving the continuous caster are wound into a coil in a furnace at a casting speed, and are payed out of this furnace at a rolling speed, whereby preferably two furnaces are preferably located one above the other for alternating coiling and payout. To improve an apparatus of the type described above for the coiling of strip which has only small thermal losses in a largely closed furnace, and has the smallest possible number of moving parts inside the furnace to achieve a high degree of operational safety and reliability. The invention proposes that each furnace has a threading opening for the strip which is largely closed by a pair of pinch rolls, and together with the pair of pinch rolls, can be pivoted around its horizontal axis, which corresponds to the coiling axis, from the coiling position into the payout position.
