  • Patent number: 9711267
Abstract: An arrangement for supporting a cylindrical superconducting coil structure has recesses in an axial end-surface of the coil structure, and support brackets that individually horizontally protrude into the recesses, such that a vertical loading on the support brackets bears the weight of the coil structure. Opposite ends of the support brackets engage a support member, which supports the support brackets engaged therein, thereby also bearing the weight of the coil structure.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: July 18, 2017
    Assignee: Siemens Healthcare Limited

  • Patent number: 7522027
Abstract: A magnet assembly comprising a former having an outer surface (20) with a cavity (12) formed therein, and a coil (14) wound into the cavity (12), said cavity being of greater depth than the coil, wherein the coil is overlain with a layer of filler material (18) of sufficient thickness that its outer surface at least aligns with the outer surface of the former (20); a clamp (22, 30) is provided, over at least part of the surface of the layer of filler material, and fastened to the outer surface of the former; and the filler material and the coil are impregnated with a solid material.

  • Patent number: 6489873
Abstract: A temperature control system for a permanent magnetic assembly in a permanent magnetic system comprises thermoelectric heat pumping devices which are in thermal contact with a yoke of the permanent magnet system. The heat pumping devices are controlled by an electronic circuit which controls the current that flows through them, so that the desired temperature of the permanent magnetic assemblies is achieved. Each thermoelectric heat pumping device includes a spring-loaded plunger which is mounted in a hole in the yoke. Heat is exchanged from or to the yoke via ambient air by natural convection or by forced air. Alternatively heat may be exchanged from the yoke via a cooling water circuit.
