  • Publication number: 20060247123
Abstract: A method of making a hydrocarbon oil dispersion of a solid procatalyst for use in a Ziegler-Natta olefin polymerization catalyst composition, said method comprising: preparing and recovering a procatalyst composition in the form of a solid mass containing residual liquid rinse diluant, partially drying the solid procatalyst composition to provide a residual liquid rinse diluent content of from 7 to 25 percent, and dispersing the partially dried, solid precursor composition in a hydrocarbon oil.

  • Publication number: 20050054792
Abstract: A method of making a solid procatalyst composition for use in a Ziegler-Natta olefin polymerization catalyst composition, said method comprising: contacting a solid precursor composition comprising magnesium, titanium, and alkoxide moieties with a titanium halide compound and an internal electron donor in any order, in a suitable reaction medium to prepare a solid procatalyst composition, separating the solid procatalyst from the reaction medium, further exchanging residual alkoxide functionality of the solid procatalyst composition for chloride functionality by contacting the same two or more times with benzoyl chloride halogenating agent under metathesis conditions for a period of time sufficient to prepare a solid procatalyst composition having a decreased alkoxide content compared to the alkoxide content of the solid procatalyst composition before said exchange, and recovering the solid procatalyst composition.
    Type: Application

  • Patent number: 5264133
Abstract: A process for the removal of soluble selenium from aqueous media comprising contacting the aqueous media with a porous support material having exchanged thereon metal ions selected from transition metal ions, alkali earth metal ions and mixtures thereof.

  • Patent number: 4207210
Abstract: When supported silver materials are being prepared, deposits of ionic, higher alkali metals, i.e., ionic potassium, rubidium, cesium or combinations thereof on porous supports with surface areas ranging from 0.1 to 7 square meters per gram prior to the deposit of silver improves the selectivity of these materials as catalysts for ethylene oxide. Optimal concentrations of the ionic, higher alkali metals are directly proportional to the surface area of the support.

  • Patent number: 4061659
Abstract: An improved process for the production of ethylene oxide by catalytic oxidation of ethylene is disclosed wherein reactant ethylene and an oxygen-containing gas are passed through a reaction zone containing a fixed catalyst bed comprising a supported silver catalyst, optionally diluted with an inert refractory particulate, at ethylene oxide forming conditions and the reaction product formed thereby is passed through a cooling zone adjacent to the reaction zone which is filled with an inert refractory particulate, whereby at least partial cooling of the reaction product is effected. In this improved process, the isomerization of ethylene oxide product to acetaldehyde and concomitant yield losses of ethylene oxide are substantially reduced by the use of an inert refractory particulate material having a surface area of 0.1 m.sup.2 /g or less in the cooling zone and, optionally, as an inert diluent in the catalyst bed of the reaction zone.
