Abstract: The invention is relative to a preparation in a novel indication which reduces the formation of deposits of thrombocytes in the vascular system. This prevents the occurrence of constrictions in the vessels. The preparation is alpha-lipoic acid (thioctic acid), which can be administered in several forms of administration such as, e.g., by injection or by tablet and which is largely free of side effects.Moreover, it can be shown in the case of smokers that the substance has a prophylactic effect in that the typical supersensitivity of the thrombocytes, which constitutes a cause for the appearance of premature vessel changes, is braked.

Abstract: A method and/or an apparatus for the determination of whether a subject has nerve damage (polyneuropathy) and/or the degree of the nerve damage is characterized in that an increase of the skin temperature is provoked at an extremity of the subject, that at the same time perfusion value or a value correlated with this perfusion value is measured at this extremity, and the time from the start of the increase in temperature of the skin up to the start of an increase in perfusion as a result of the elevated skin temperature is evaluated as a measure for the presence and/or the degree of the nerve damage.

Abstract: The invention relates to a combination preparation, in particular for the treatment of nerve cell and nerve fibre diseases and also for the prophylaxis and treatment of circulatory disturbances, the combination preparation comprising at least the active substances Extr. Ginkgo bilobae (ginkgo flavonglycosides) and at least one substance of the group: folic acid and its derivatives, in particular folinic acid; .alpha.-lipoic acid and its derivatives; and all the vitamin-B groups and their derivatives. Investigations have been successfully carried out in the treatment of diabetes mellitus, hyperpathic polyneuropathy and carpal tunnel syndrome.
