  • Publication number: 20220307269
Abstract: A precast cladding panel has upper and lower edges that, as viewed in transverse vertical cross-section through the panel, are profiled for overlapping engagement with complementarily-profiled edges of vertically-adjacent cladding panels in a coplanar cladding panel assembly mounted to a supporting structure. The upper edge of the panel defines a convex horizontal ridge, and the lower edge of the panel defines a concave horizontal recess, such that the convex horizontal ridge on the upper edge of one panel will project into the concave recess of the lower edge of a similar panel mounted immediately above it. The convex configuration of the upper edge of the panel promotes drainage of water out of horizontal joints between panels in the mounted assembly of cladding panels, and the overlapping engagement of vertically-adjacent panels impedes or prevents the entry of wind-driven rain into the cladding structure via the horizontal joints between panels.

  • Patent number: 10151117
Abstract: An elongate hanger for precast cladding panels includes an anchorage band embeddable in an upper region of a precast panel; an abutment band contiguous with the anchorage band and providing an abutment surface for the lower edge of an upper panel in a panel assembly mounted to a support wall; a ventilation band contiguous with and extending horizontally from the abutment band, and having one or more ventilation openings; and a mounting band contiguous with and extending upward from the ventilation band in a tilted off-vertical plane when the panel is mounted to a support wall by fasteners extending through a lower region of the mounting band. The hanger vertically supports the cladding panel at a distance from the support wall corresponding to an air space defined by the selected hanger geometry, with the ventilation openings facilitating the flow of water or water vapor out of the air space.

  • Patent number: 7694477
Abstract: In a precast cladding panel system requiring no cast-in mounting hardware, each panel has a continuous notch along its upper edge, forming a ledge adjacent the panel's front face, and an upstand adjacent the panel's rear face. Each panel is mounted to a supporting structure using fasteners installed through openings formed in the upstand. The panels are configured such that their lower edges fit into the notches of underlying panels, with the front faces of all panels being substantially co-planar, aided by spacer means fastened to the supporting structure adjacent to the lowermost panel course. Air circulation behind the installed panel assembly is facilitated by spaced bumpers fastened to the supporting structure so as to space the panel upstands away therefrom. Alternatively, the panels may be mounted with the upstands directly against the supporting structure, with the panels having vertical air channels formed into the upstands and rear panels faces as appropriate.

  • Publication number: 20070119109
Abstract: A rigid elongate mounting bracket has an embedment portion and an extension portion. The extension portion has a fastener opening and abutment means. When cast into a precast panel in an appropriate angular orientation adjacent to an edge of a cladding panel, the extension portion projects rearwardly and laterally away from the rear face of the panel end such that the end of the extension portion is disposed at a distance away from the panel's rear face corresponding to a desired air space, and the abutment means is substantially aligned with the panel's rear face. Each panel preferably has at least two brackets spaced along its upper edge and two more along its lower edge. A first panel may be mounted to a supporting structure using fasteners driven through the fastener openings of the upper brackets.

  • Patent number: 6253515
Abstract: A concrete panel system comprising a plurality of concrete panels arranged in side-by-side fashion on a substantially vertical supporting wall, each of the panels comprising a rectangular body having a front surface and a rear surface and beveled side edges, the side edges each forming an angle of between eighty-five and ninety degrees with the rear surface, and a concave caulking groove lying between and connecting each of the beveled side edges with the front face, the side edges of adjacent panels forming a V-joint between the adjacent panels, a flexible sealant material in a portion of the caulking grooves of adjacent panels and a portion of the V-joint for providing a seal between adjacent panels, and a hanger element embedded in the rear of the panels for securing the panels to the supporting wall.
