  • Patent number: 5090997
Abstract: In an advantageous process for producing powdered aluminium alloys which have a catalytic action or are capable of acting as precursors of catalysts, good results are obtained if the alloy is atomized with water and/or a gas at a temperature of 50.degree. to 500.degree. C. above its melting point and then cooled and dried.

  • Patent number: 5054973
Abstract: A tool bit has a body (1) with an axially extending insertion end (2) for insertion into a chuck on a drive unit. The insertion end (2) has closed ended axially extending grooves (4) and axially extending grooves (5) open at the trailing end of the insertion end. The open end grooves have a base (6) with a shaped configuration (7). The shaped base has depressions or recesses (8) forming stop faces (9) extending transversely of the axial direction and acting essentially in the axial direction of the insertion end. When the insertion end (2) is placed into the chuck, any dirt on the stop faces (9) can be wiped off and deposited in the recesses (8). The shaped configuration (7) of the base (6) prevents, during formation of the axially extending grooves (4, 5), by means of grooving tools rolling in the axial direction of the insertion end (2), any undesirable length changes in the insertion end while affording sharp-edges rolling of the shaped configuration.

  • Patent number: 4941339
Abstract: Grooves are formed in an insertion end of a working tool, such as a tool bit or a chisel bit by pivoting a grooving tool about a pivot axis extending perpendicularly to the axis of the insertion end. By pivoting the grooving tool about the pivot axis, it moves along the axial direction of the insertion end forming the grooves. A plurality of the grooving tools can be ganged together and moved by a single drive unit for simultaneously forming angularly spaced grooves in the insertion end.

  • Patent number: 4665540
Abstract: Apparatus for making sectional radiographs which allows for the operator to preset the scanning patterns to be followed by the apparatus during the making of a sectional radiograph. The operator positions the source or the image detector in at least one point on the path defining the desired scanning pattern. This position is measured and applied to an arithmetic device which derives therefrom reference values for driving the source and the image detector.

  • Patent number: 4130417
Abstract: A hign-carbon ferro-alloy, specifically ferrochrome or ferromanganese, is carburized in a converter in which oxygen or air is blown from below into the melt together with a surrounding protective gas. With the bath preheated to a temperature somewhat higher than the melting point of the ferro-alloy, the oxygen is introduced at such a rate that its reaction with the chromium or the manganese locally superheats the bath, in a region well below the surface and spaced from the converter walls, to a temperature high enough to let the resulting oxides react endothermically with the carbon. This reaction takes place in combustion zones believed to be localized in gas bubbles formed above the injection nozzles, the oxidation of the ferrous and nonferrous constitutents occurring at the interface between the gas and the melt with formation of a very thin and highly reactive oxide skin around each bubble.

  • Patent number: 3975642
Abstract: The invention relates to an image section of an X-ray apparatus for medical applications, comprising a control unit which completely or partly closes the diaphragm during the movement of the cassette from the parking position to the recording position. This prevents fogging which can otherwise occur when the film is exposed during this movement of the cassette to the slowly disappearing X-radiation caused by preceding fluoroscopy.
