  • Patent number: 11721144
Abstract: This disclosure is generally directed to systems and methods for eliminating false activation of components of a vehicle when the vehicle is parked in a garage. Example components can be a door lock, a door latch, a door activation servomotor, or a light. In an example method, a vehicle entry authorization system of a vehicle operates a sensor system to obtain dimensional information of an interior portion of the garage. The vehicle entry authorization system may then detect a presence of a mobile device (such as a phone-as-a-key or a vehicle key fob) and determines the location of the mobile device based on the dimensional information. If the mobile device is located outside the garage, the vehicle entry authorization system refrains from activating a component of the vehicle. However, if the mobile device is located inside the garage, the vehicle entry authorization system activates the component.

  • Patent number: 6370310
Abstract: A device for compensating for changes of a center wavelength of a fiber optic grating due to temperature variations comprising a holder including a first and second connector for securing a fiber optic grating, the first connector is fixed, the second connector is movable to increase or decrease a strain in the grating, a source of force applied to the second connector, and the source of force varies with changes in temperature, such that with and increase in temperature the second connector moves toward the first connector to decrease the strain in the fiber optic grating; and, a method for compensating for changes of a center wavelength of a fiber optic grating due to temperature variations.

  • Patent number: 5892097
Abstract: The transesterification of substituted lower alkyl hydroxyhydrocinnamates with a higher alcohol or a polyol is greatly facilitated by the use of a trace amount of a tin catalyst. In many cases, the amount of the catalyst is so small that it is unnecessary to remove it from the final product by distillation of said product.

  • Patent number: 5628160
Abstract: Elastic elements which can be connected together to form a flooring covering include a rectangular plastic frame, interconnected struts within the frame forming a lattice structure, male couplings in the form of elongated bars extending outwardly of the frame and having end plates, and female couplings in the form of spring latches inside the frame to connect with the elongated bars of adjacent elements. Springs extending outwardly of the frame contact an adjacent element to maintain a predetermined spacing therebetween, while the latches of female couplings contact the stop plates of cooperating male couplings to limit separation of the adjacent elements.

  • Patent number: 4773174
Abstract: The supporting and suspending frame, detachably assembled from a plurality of supporting frame elements, serves to suspend flat reproductions, in particular photographic reproductions, of paper, film or fabric smoothly in the frame by means of tensioning springs. Every supporting frame element has an at least partly circularly curved narrow side and a contiguous flat wide side at right angles thereto. The inside face of the wide side is provided with a supporting member that extends in the longitudinal direction of the wide side and is open in the transverse direction of the wide side. The tensioning springs, which are fastened to the edges of the reproduction by means of eyes, can be suspended directly in and displaced along the supporting member.

  • Patent number: 4695528
Abstract: In order to be able, in a simple manner, to erase, by heating, data recorded on bodies with reversible, temperature-variable light extinctions, and then to be able to use the body anew for the recording of data, these bodies consists of at least one polymer material and/or resin matrix material (A) and at least one organic low-molecular substance (B), which is insoluble, at least partially, in the latter and which is contained therein as a dispersed second phase, whereby the pair of materials (A/B) possess variable light extinctions below a specific temperature (T.sub.0) in dependence on a previous heating above T.sub.0 and are so constituted that, upon being heated above a conversion temperature (T.sub.2) which lies above T.sub.0, and being cooled off subsequently to below T.sub.0, yields maximum light extinction; and, upon being heated in the state of maximum light extinction to a temperature (T.sub.1) which lies above T.sub.0 and below T.sub.2, and subsequent cooling off to below T.sub.

  • Patent number: 4584221
Abstract: By means of the coupling members and corresponding supporting feet of adjacent elements a coupling between an arbitrary number of elements of the floor covering assembly is possible. In order to prevent the separation of the engaged respective pairs supporting feet-coupling members in a positive manner locking cams having upwards facing abutment surfaces lock behind side sections of respective adjacent elements.
