Patent number: 10587105Abstract: A utility line snow or ice removal device mounts to a support structure, such as a utility pole cross-arm. The device includes a moving support arranged to support a utility line, such that a combined weight of the utility line and any snow or ice on the utility line is borne by the moving support. A release arrangement is configured to maintain the moving support in a first position when the combined weight is below a release threshold. When the combined weight exceeds the release threshold, the release arrangement is arranged to release the moving support from the first position to allow the utility line to move under the combined weight from the supported position, creating a sudden movement of the utility line that shakes snow/ice build-up from the line. The device also includes a resetting arrangement configured to return the moving support to the first position when snow/ice has been removed.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 2017Date of Patent: March 10, 2020Assignee: Snowrid Lines System LimitedInventors: Bruce Lindsay Wallace, Peter Lance Wallace

Patent number: 9802657Abstract: A powered deployable spoiler assembly includes a support member adapted for mounting to a motor vehicle and a spoiler panel disposed in a recessed segment of the support member. A pair of power-operated drive units interconnect the spoiler panel to the support member and are operable to move the spoiler panel between a non-deployed position, a first deployed position to provide aerodynamic assistance at a first vehicle speed, and a second deployed position to provide augmented aerodynamic assistance at a second higher vehicle speed. Each drive unit defines a guide slot and includes a stanchion fixed to the spoiler panel and a follower assembly fixed to the stanchion and disposed for movement within the guide slot. Electric motors are coupled to rotary-to-linear conversion mechanisms for converting rotation into translation of the follower assemblies to control movement of the spoiler panel.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 2015Date of Patent: October 31, 2017Assignee: MAGNA CLOSURES INC.Inventors: Peter Lance Oxley, Vadym Podkopayev

Publication number: 20120214870Abstract: Methods for the diagnosis and treatment of chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) are disclosed based upon the finding that particular individual acylcarnitines are present in modified concentrations (ie decreased or increased concentrations) in CFS patients compared to healthy control subjects. In one form of the invention, a diagnostic method comprises determining a concentration of at least one individual acylcarnitine compound (eg oleyl-L-carnitine and linoleyl-L-carnitine) in a body sample from a test subject and comparing the concentration to a reference concentration, wherein a difference in the concentration of the at least one individual acylcarnitine from the test subject compared to the reference concentration is indicative of CFS.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 30, 2010Publication date: August 23, 2012Applicant: UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH AUSTRALIAInventors: Allan Mark Evans, Stephanie Elizabeth Reuter, Peter Lance Wigley

Patent number: 7866729Abstract: An actuating device is provided for moving a closure panel between an open position spaced apart from a vehicle body and a closed position abutting the vehicle body to close an access opening thereof. The actuating device includes a telescopic arm having a first member coupled to one of the closure panel and the vehicle body and a second member coupled to the other of the closure panel and the vehicle body. The first and second members are slidable relative to one another to move the actuating device between a retracted position corresponding with the closed position and an extended position corresponding with the open position. A screw is rotatable relative to the first member. The screw includes a cavity formed therewithin. A nut is secured to the second member and threadingly engages the screw such that rotation of the screw moves the second member towards and away from the first member to move the actuating device between the respective retracted and extended positions.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 2009Date of Patent: January 11, 2011Assignee: Magna Closures Inc.Inventors: Alex Porat, Salvatore Vitale, Stephen A.
